Wrap & Roll Vietnamese at Star Vista

Image
Wrap & Roll is a Vietnamese eating place. The outlet at Star Vista Mall (next to Buona Vista MRT) is their first outlet in Singapore. Wrap & Roll is very popular in Vietnam with many outlets. Mrupupup did tried the spring rolls from Wrap & Roll in Ho Chin Minh City. Mrupupup wanted to try their flagship outlet and ordered the spring rolls at their Star Vista outlet (B1-11). Mrupupup had fried spring rolls, steam spring rolls with chicken and beef spring rolls. All spring rolls were very nice and the order for three dishes of spring rolls came to about $30. You know Wrap & Roll spring rolls are good for even the Vietnamese were in the queue to enter the eating place. Mrupupup did wait for about 20mins to enter the restaurant. The spring roll dishes came with a refreshing drink. Ok, enjoy the food pictures! Mrupupup preferred the popiah skin (non fried version) spring rolls with their special sauces. Yummyssss!

Tim Palace Restaurant:Conversations over Chinese Dinner

Image
Conversation over an 8 course Chinese dinner could be interesting. Mrupupup had to sit next to an new person and in order to avoid all discomfort for about 4 hours Mrupupup just opened the mouth and TALK.         Pretty interesting talking to a new person. He is a young man and a freelance photographer making a living shooting wedding events. He said wedding photography could be a tiring trade. Mrupupup sensed he was not enjoying it. He described how wedding couples could be so picky in their photography shoots. There were couples that have the money and bring him out to places like Sydeny, USA and many places just to shoot the wedding photos.        As we talked the 8 food dishes arrived one after another, all the dishes as photographed were very delicious at TIM Palace Restaurant located in the newly renovated SAFRA Toa Payoh. Mrupupup particularly enjoyed the fish maw soup, bird's nest dessert and suckling roast pig.  Mrupupup as a 'wannabe' photographer just photogr

FRANKENWEENIE cartoon movie nuffnang

Image
What lengths will you go to keep your favourite pet by your side forever? Mrupupup would try several methods to keep my pet dog alive: 1. Save my pet dog's genes and try to create a 'duplicate' pet dog through gene therapy. 2. Be like the movie Frankenweenie and keep my dog alive through special forces and natural powers 3. Pray to god almighty for help and keep my pet doggie alive.  Movie Synopsis From creative genius Tim Burton ("Alice in Wonderland," The Nightmare Before Christmas") comes "Frankenweenie," a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous.

Uniqlo Stretch Jeans Launch at Ion Orchard

Image
Mrupupup attended Uniqlo Stretch Jeans launch at Ion Orchard. The whole launch event was a snazzy affair and very nice. Uniqlo really wanted to do well to launch their new product Stretch Jeans. At the event, there were TV stars (Joanne Peh and Rebecca Lim), models, fashion show, food, and a very cool string music quartet (Piezo String Quartet). The best part was Uniqlo gave us $50 voucher to spend in their Ion Orchard store and happily Mrupupup got a shirt and many coloured socks! Very nicely done Uniqlo. Check out the photos and videos. Over hot chocolate...

Over hot chocolate at Wimby Lu Cafe, my discussion did went well. The hot chocolate was dark with marshmallow bits in the drink. So was my discussion with my mate, the conversation touched on raw topics with sweetness in between. Wimby Lu was really crowded today. The place was filled with young 'workies' (working adults, who work all day like zombies). Singapore is filled with many 'workies'. All 'workies' strive to earn as much money as possible so as to spend it away in cafes like Wimbly Lu having latte, waffles with cheesecake ice cream and crème brulee with chocolate top. As Mrupupup sat at one spot in Wimby Lu, the conversation nearby was of life's possibilities. One workie was saying to another: "Let's go and buy a house, the property market is hot." The other workie replied: " Oh no! My life will be a slave to the banks." Oh man, the realities of life bites hard. The next table was a pair of young workies. They sat down

Rocket at Upper Seletar Reservoir

Image
Mrupupup saw a Rocket in Singapore! The Rocket is at Upper Seletar Reservoir! Actually, this Rocket structure oversees the whole of Upper Seletar Reservoir catchment area and you can also see glimpses of the Singapore Zoo nearby. Mrupupup managed to climb to the top of the rocket and capture a 360 view & video of the Upper Seletar Reservoir. This reservoir was built in the 1940. The Japanese War in 1941 destroyed the reservoir but was subsequently repaired. The originally named Seletar Reservoir was rebuilt in the 1960s and enlarged by 35 times. It was opened officially in 1969 by Princess Alexandra who represented the Queen of England for the 150th anniversary to celebrate Singapore as England's trading post. This Rocket was like a fantasy and climbing up the spiral gives Mrupupup a feeling of getting ready to blast off into space. Indeed, the Rocket tower served as heritage site for Singapore and bears memories of the good times people had when they were in the Seletar Reserv

Jay Gee Style Challenge at Bugis Plus Mall

Image
Mrupupup invited to attend the Jay Gee Style Challenge cum Style Workshop at Bugis Plus Mall. Loved to see the contestants challenging each other in the latest style sponsored by shops like Denizen, Levis, New Look and Dockers. Mrupupup also learnt from Steve Thio (Singapore Style Guru) on how to be in style with clothes - never knew checker prints are in fashion and we can wear two collar shirts together. Great to see TV star Jade Seah and DJ Justin Ang. Very fun event! Mrupupup learnt much on style and great seeing contestants dressed in the latest fashion. Good day! Thanks 8 Days.

Oktoberfest at Clarke Quay Singapore

Image
Mrupupup went to the Oktoberfest at Clarke Quay Singapore.  Oktoberfest is a famous German tradition of having beer and sausages. The evening at Oktoberfest was fun with Erdinger Beer and Mrupupup's favourite hotdog with grilled beef sausage (done by Shiraz restaurant). Mrupupup also had a pork belly which came with a very crispy layer done so well by Vinky restaurant (oumph! Very nice!). Oktoberfest held by sponsors Open Rice, Capitalmalls and restaurants in Clarke Quay was fun. Mrupupup went round to the game counters and played many games. There was also a music concert and Bavarian Bar Maids. The Oktoberfest is from 12 - 13 October 2012.

Lil Papa's Wieners Hotdogs & Craft Beers Tasting Session

Image
Mrupupup attended Lil Papa's Wieners Beerstro tasting session. Very good experience! Lil Papa's Wieners sells hotdogs and special beers & ciders. The place is located at Blk 7 Tanjong Pagar Plaza #01-108 (near Tanjong Pagar MRT). Really great fun attending this tasting session. Mrupupup got to try the special  gourmet hotdogs known as wieners which come in non-spicy, mild spicy (with mild mustard, beef and tomatoes) and very spicy flavours (meaning with sambal chili - spicy!). Hotdogs vary in price from between $7-$10. All very nice! Mrupupup had one Lil Papa's Fav Wiener (non-spicy) which comes with pork sausage, home style baked beans on top with onions and curry powder. Delicious hotdog and one is enough to make you full! The tasting group tried out the hotdogs with pairings of special beers, ale and cider. Mrupupup was excited to drink Cherry Coke too as a starter! Cherry Coke is not commonly found in Singapore. Our tasting group also heard from the owner:  differen
