Mee Rebus Very nice and Sedap at Blk 724 Ang Mo Kio Hawker Centre Yunos N Family stall

Image
Mrupupup encountered a very nice innovative Malay food stall selling Mee Rebus, Mee Soto and other nice Malay dishes. The dishes had nice sounding names that Mrupupup needed a fellow patron in the long queue to explain the names of the dishes. Mrupupup in the end tried the Mee Rebus 'Tarik' (costs $4.80) - a hybrid of satay meat and sauce together with the Mee Rebus - thick gravy with mee, lime, onions, green chilli and an egg. Very nice dish! Mrupupup never tasted this type of thick gravy Mee Rebus with Satay Sauce and Satay chicken meat. Super yummy. The "Yunos N Family" stall got a queue during lunch time and stall at Blk 724 Ang Mo Mio Avenue 6 Hawker Centre. See the satay sauce and satay chicken meat in the Mee Rebus Tarik Gravy- Very Nice

Ayam Penyet Ria at Far East Plaza for Smashed Fried Chicken and Catfish

Image
Mrupupup had very nice meal of smashed fried chicken and fried catfish at the Ayam Penyet Ria - Far East Plaza Singapore #05-22, 14 Scotts Road. The fried chicken was so crispy and yummy. The fried catfish was a new item for Mrupupup. The catfish was interesting food but do watch out for the fish bones. Mrupupup also had a sweet chendol drink. Mrupupup felt like the place was in Indonesia. Mrupupup loved the food! The meal costs in total about $230- $25 for the mentioned dishes and came with rice and hot hot chilli sauce (spicy!!!). Check out the photos.

Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak - Really Power Food

Image
If you are in the Western part of Singapore and hungry for a plate of Nasi Lemak late at night, then go to Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak.  Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak always got a queue of  people for the Nasi Lemak.  The key to good food is fresh ingredients. The rice and chicken wings were served fresh and hot. When the rice was fragrant with warm coconut flavour and the sambal chilli super spicy, it was so good that Mr UpUpUp had two same lunch of chicken Nasi Lemak set ($3) as shown below for two days!  Wa, so much Nasi Lemak in the body system! Mrupupup loved the chicken wings that came with a tinge of curry powder spice in it. As mentioned again, the rice made all the difference. Good Nasi Lemak needs quality rice to be enjoyable! Power Nasi Lemak really was Power! Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak Blk 221B, Boon Lay Place #01-106 Boon Lay Place Food Centre

Satay Power at Lau Pa Sat Market

Image
Mrupupup had satay at Satay Power (Stall No. 6) at Lau Pa Sat Festival Market located at Raffles Place, Singapore. Well, the stall did live up to its reputation and Mrupupup loved the juicy 'power' satay sticks of yummy meats. The satay sticks came with slices of beef, chicken and duck. First time, Mrupupup tried duck meat on satay sticks. Each satay costs 60 cents per stick. Easily Mrupupup's group of friend spent $5 per person on eating satay with peanut curry sauce, onions and rice cakes. Yummy! Mrupupup also loved to see the satay man cooking over a hot charcoal oven to slowly cook the satay meat. Very nice! Satay is best with a good cup of milk tea (teh tarik!) or bandung (rose syrup milk drink!). Singapore is truly a food heaven on earth! Mrupupup just enjoy eating! Lau Pa Sat market satay stalls only opens late in the evening. Satay Power !

Traditional Putu Piring at Haig Road

Image
Putu Piring store sells a Malay traditional coconut snack filled with sweet coconut and brown sugar bits (gula melaka). Putu Piring is a steam rice flour cake snack with lots of grated coconut. Mrupupup thought this store had disappeared after the coffeeshop the store originally was at became some provision shop. Mrupupup was happy to find the Putu Piring store at Blk 14 Haig Road hawker centre #01-08. Each packet of 'steamed' Putu Piring costed $2 for about 4-5 pieces. Mrupupup loved the sweet taste of this putu piring dessert snack and the snacks were all handmade by the ladies. Pretty happy and Mrupupup ate up all the pieces in double quick time! Yummss!

Laksania at Nex Mall

Image
Mrupupup attended Laksania's talk by their boss. Laksania serves very nice Laksa which is a spicy noodle dish. Laksania located at the Nex Mall (#B1-08) serves Kelantan laksa, Singapore Laksa, Penang Laksa and Sarawak Laksa. Laksania is a social entreprise store and it is a sister company of the famous Secret Receipe. Their Boss of Laksania shared the difficulties of setting up this store to help the less fortunate people in society via gainful employment in Laksania. Social Entreprise in Singapore is not easy and only business people with the toughest minds chart out their paths and are determine to help the less fortunate in society. The food in Laksania was good and Mrupupup tried their Sarawak Laksa which was spicy, yummy and comes with chicken meat. Laksania also serves Laksa Goreng (fried noodles with laksa sauce), laksa satay, various desserts and many laksa types of food. All the food items are nice and served by very friendly staff, some of whom do face challenges in life.

Have you Qi Ji yet?

Image
Qi Ji is a store that sells very nice nasi lemak and poh piah (big spring rolls). The Qi Ji store at Nex Mall sometimes would have a long queue. Mrupupup's preference is to have their nasi lemak with the the chicken wing set (very yummy and unhealthy) and their spring rolls - filled with prawn slices, eggs and vegetables. Do enjoy their their cold barley drink too, very refreshing.

Old School Delights at Thomson

Image
Old School Delights (OSD) at Upper Thomson Road area serves local dishes and lots of nostalgia. The eating place is a clever eating concept with the whole deco focus on the theme of going back in time of 'old school days'. The food served was pretty alright and was crowded during meal time. There are games like 'Old Maid' to play and enjoy the old photographs on the wall. Mrupupup had nasi lemak, chicken cutlet rice, thick coffee and bandung syrup drink. Just want to mention that the service in OSD was impressive. The Lady Boss took effort to ask whether Mrupupup was there for the first time. On the way out, we gave the feedback that the drinks order were mixed up and the Lady Boss gave us a small complimentary packet of cookies (good gesture) and took note of our feedback. Excellent service OSD!

Kartini Indonesian Restaurant

Image
Kartini Indonesian Restaurant at Parkway Parade (Marine Parade) serves very nice Indonesian food. The Beef Redang was 'sinful' but very nice, spicy, tender and tasty with rice. The bergerdil ( mashed potato balls), chicken wings and the chicken soup were great too! Kartini serves unlimited portions of white rice to go with your dishes. The staff were good with their service. After eating at Kartini, Mrupupup felt very 'full'. Yumzzz. The pictures are a bit 'orangey' because the restaurant has an orange deco. Burp! Burp!                                                 Chicken Soup                                                 Bergerdil Potato                                                        The menu                                                  Chicken wings                                  Mrupupup's favourite - Beef Rendang                                                    Yumzzz

Riverside Indonesian BBQ @Kopitiam Plaza Singapore

Image
Mrupupup by default will only visit one store at the Kopitiam foodcourt at the Plaza Singapore, that would be Riverside Indonesian BBQ. Not sure why, mrupupup does not mind lining up for the food at this store. Maybe it is the curry sauce or the BBQ taste or the chilli or the rice which makes the food appealing to the masses. The store always has a long queue. Well, we had for dinner curry chicken rice (big piece of thigh chicken) and BBQ squid (love their BBQ sauce). Curry Chicken BBQ Squid

Singapore Food Trail @ Singapore Flyer

Image
Mrupupup loves to eat and a great fan of food courts/ hawkers. Well, there is a foodcourt dining concept at the Singapore Food Trail @ Singapore Flyer. The food area at the iconic Singapore Flyer brings back the nostalgic feel of the 1960s. There are many famous food stores at Singapore Food Trail and the place was packed on a Sunday. Mrupupup had oyster omelete (nice), Char Kway Teow ( fried noodles with black sauce) and cups of bird's nest drink (very expensive drink at $2.50). The price at Singapore Food Trail are not cheap, but reasonable since there are no other eating places that provide so many choices like sambal stingray, satay, pork noodles, hokkien mee (long queue!!! never get to try), BBQ seafood, carrot cake and even an Indian store that sells the traditional 'Kacang Puteh' nuts snack. Check out the photos and see you like to pay a visit to the Singapore Food Trail. Char Kway Teow Serving Bird's Nest Drink Bruce Lee poster Oyster Omelete Hopscotch
