Young Colugo Animal Saw in Singapore

Image
Mrupupup was so excited that a young Colugo animal was spotted among the trees in Lower Pierce Reservoir park in Singapore. This colugo animal is pretty hard to spot in Singapore and it is considered 'vulnerable'. Well, it was a lucky day to spot such a mammal! The Colugo is a gliding mammal found in the South East Asia jungles. This nocturnal animal glides at night with its flying wings. The one Mrupupup saw was a young colugo and it had brown fur. The young colugo was about the size of big squirrel. Adult colugo has a greyish coat. The mammal is related closely to primates. Very exciting. Please see the best photograph below of the Colugo (taken by Mrupupup!).

The Cornerstone Cafe at Bishan Park

Image
Mrupupup went to Cornerstone Café for Brunch. The eating place is located at Bishan Park 2 (the one with the Macdonalds). The Cornerstone offers a large place for people to gather to have brunch. Brunch consisted of slices of roast beef, ham, squid, tuna in tiny cute cones, lobster pasta in a spoon and the wonderful desserts. Wow, the desserts were the nice part! Cornerstone had marsh mellow with sweet sauces, wonderful cakes, tiny cups with sweet things, cookies, many wonderdul things which Mrupupup had recorded on pictures. Yummys!!!!! Mrupupup loved to eat! If you have dogs, the Cornerstone is dog friendly, Mrupupup saw large dogs and small dogs and even a nice cat enjoying the sunny day! Very nice place for a weekend brunch! OK, attached below their burger and soups. Yummy!

Blue Wing Pitta Bird Spotted in Lower Pirerce

Image
Mrupupup felt happy to spot the Blue Wing Pitta Bird in the mangrove area of Lower Pierce Reservoir in Singapore. Think it was the current dry spell in Singapore that allowed Mrupupup to see this beautiful bird.  Blue Wing Pitta Bird is a rare sight in Singapore. Well, you might have notice the circle black background framing the bird picture. The reason was some person came along with a scope which allowed one to see and take good pictures from afar. The scope was very useful on this day. It was a good day and feeling blessed by Mother Nature.

Woodlands Waterfont Singapore

Image
From Admiralty Park, Woodlands Waterfront was a short walk for a quick visit. This waterfront area consists of one long jetty which stretches out to the sea. Opposite Woodlands Waterfront is the Johor Bahru Malaysia. The jetty is a long stretch with many people out fishing. Take a stroll along the Woodlands Waterfront can be quite a relaxing event. Enjoy the sea breeze and the view of Johor Bahru Malaysia Singapore's northern point park - Woodlands Waterfront is a very nice place to chill and relax

Admiralty Park Singapore

Image
Admiralty Park is a very quiet park located at the northern part of Singapore and just next to Republic Polytechnic. The park has two sides to it: urban park with bicycle path & small river (gravel) and forest park area. Mrupupup felt that this park is a bit too neat and not 'wild' enough (not many creatures/birds to see).  However, the park is a good place to take skyline photos - very blue skies. Check out the photos of the blue skies of Singapore at Admiralty Park.

Image
Mrupupup went to the Gardens by the Bay Singapore to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Gardens by the Bay was beautifully adorned with many types of Chinese lanterns and was very impressed with the large lantern of a Dinosaur! The Mid-Autumn Festival transformed Gardens by the Bay into a magical display of light and colour and enchanting displays of blossoming flowers! Go the Flower Dome which features large Dragon Fly lanterns perched amidst a field of vibrant flora. In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Gardens by the Bay will have an extension of operating hours and 15% discount on admission tickets to the conservatories from 13 to 22 September 2013. Sembawang Park

Image
Sembawang Park is in the north of Singapore. Mrupupup visited the park and found it very peaceful. Sembawang Park is now undergoing some renovations. Mrupupup found the park very nice because of the Beaulieu House (old style colonial house) located at the park, the jetty and very clean place to hang out or go for a nice walk. The Beaulieu House now serves as a restaurant and is located right in front of the beach. While Mrupupup was at Sembawang Park, people were just relaxing at the beach and breathing the fresh air. You can take bus service 882 from Sembawang MRT station/ bus interchange to go to the park.   Stone Chairs   Future playground under construction      Pine trees     Checking out the Sembawang Shipyard   Sembawang Jetty       Map of the Park   Beaulieu House

Mrupupup was invited to a blogger preview of the new programme "Flight of Fancy" at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore. Gardens by the Bay kicks off the June 13 holidays with a brand-new thematic floral display in the cooled conservatories! This is the first time that the changing display, which typically takes place in the “Flower Dome” conservatory, will extend to the “Cloud Forest” conservatory. Monkey spotted at Dairy Farm Nature Park

Image
Mrupupup spotted many monkeys in the Dairy Farm Nature Park in Bukit Timah Singapore. The monkeys were energetic and full of playful intent. Mrupupup also spotted a spider among the bushes. Very interesting day to go and look at nature. Very nice Dairy Farm Nature Park.

Pasir Ris Park Singapore

Image
Mrupupup went to Pasir Ris Park in the eastern part of Singapore. Took many pictures and enjoyed the calmness of the park. People were just running, skating, cycling and enjoying the evening breeze. Very nice place! Pasir Ris Park has many creatures to see like big size herons, eagles, crabs, fish and even a horse shoe crab (a prehistoric creature!).This coastal horseshoe crab is not a 'crab' but more related to spider. It is interesting that Singapore is the only place in the world where there is known permanently high density of horseshoe crabs. Fossils of horseshoe crab have been dated to over 400 million years ago and looked almost identical to the species still alive today. Pasir Ris Park is very nice place and enjoyed seeing the trees sway to the strong winds. The low tide on that day allowed to see the creatures along the beach. Nice Pasir Ris Park.
