Shinkansen Japanese Bullet Train Travel Tip Travel Log

Image
Shinkansen Japanese Bullet Train is a very pretty train. Mrupupup took the Shinkansen a few times and it never fails to amazes Mrupupup.   Mrupupup on this day took the Shinkansen to travel from Tokyo to the northern cities of Japan. Once inside the cabin of the Shinkansen, one would be in awe of the cleanliness of each seat. The cabin was also absolutely so 'peaceful' once the train pulls off from the platform. The bullet train would travel at speeds of 300km/hr. However, one would not feel the speed but the steadiness of the ride.   In the cabin, Mrupupup would look out the window and see the wonderful country side and built up areas of Tokyo. Mrupupup would be fascinated by Japanese society with its neatness, peace, zen and orderliness. Even in the Shinkansen train, one should not talk in a loud manner.   Zoom. The ride would take one to another city in 30mins. Before you knew it, you are ready to alight from the train. Oh, the music of the station stoppin

Parkway Parade and its guests

Wow, Parkway Parade was really busy today. Mrupupup thinks Parkway Parade is an evergreen mall with few competitors on the eastern part of Singapore. Today, Mrupupup wandered around Parkway Parade. The old shops were still there like Giant, MPH, Photography shop at its basement, and the many fashion shops. Mrupupup kind of missed the food court, after the renovation, the whole place is now taken up by 'boring' Food Republic. The old food court of Parkway Parade had Mrupupup's favourite mee rebus and herbal jelly stall.  Kind of missed that food stall. Singapore has too many 'Food Republic' food courts, kind of boring. Anyway, Mrupupup went to eat at Putien. The Putien had very good wait staff and they were a courteous bunch of people. The food ordered Putien dry Bee Hoon and Lor Mee were as usual simply yummy. Mrupupup always wondered how this Heng Hwa Chinese type of food had some form of attractiveness to the style of cooking that one must go to savour it. Y

On a rainy day of feelings and happiness

On a rainy day, Singapore's night became cooler. Thanks for the rain. The smell of fresh rain coming through the 'pigeons holes' of my lodging refreshed my soul and injected new perspectives of vigour.           Mrupupup wondered the fresh rain of this night's tropical storm would it helped people in troubles? Hopefully, rain brought new feelings of hope to people in hospitals, special homes, sad homes or a lonely hawker needing to wake up early.          There was much to think about. Singapore covered in rain and the morning would bring happiness to her people with coolness and freshness. Anyway, rains springs out much reflections in Mrupupup's brain.         Pit-pat-pit-pat, the rain hits on the window pane. Good night.

A story of uneventfulness

It was a normal work day. Mrupupup could smell the morning rain on sunny Singapore. The rain brought fresh relief to this country's hot weather.          The walk to the train station was uneventful. How come the pavement was so grey? Sometimes, Mrupupup would encounter strange people walking on the pavement. Strange as in why people would rush to work with their children in tow. Guess Singapore is a busy place and people need to work to survive.          Oh, the train is coming! Mrupupup fancies Singapore's train system. The train are clean and better maintained than city like Paris. Have you been to Paris? Oh my, the trains just creek along the way and not clean.          People on the train. What do they do? How the world has changed in our mobile phone world? Everybody would just look into their small screens on the handphone. The train ride would be uneventful.         Reached the stop, alight and walked again on the pavement. However, this time there would be a sm

Moon andy Biiboo

Moon rises and calm prevails in Zing Zing World. The rustle of clothes been 'tanned' by the moonlight at our Zing Zing World Doobie Apartments. Softly and gently are the snores of the night. From the night, rises the Night Watchman covering all of Zing Zing World.        The Night Watchman complained of the recent case of some strange "Andyman" complaining of our Doobie trains. Andyman is a pink skin being from outer realm of Zing Zing World.  Night Watchman felt that the Andyman was a bad menace to Zing Zing World. "Let society rise up against the tyranny of Andyman although Doobie Trains were at fault at times," exclaimed the Night Watchman.       Zing Zing World settled into the night. Her motherland feeling at peace, but the morning would come. Zing Zing World would spring to life again. The cycle of Doobie trains would begin as everyday would be and the netizens of Zing Zing World would continue in its quest to fill the internet space.      The mo

Story imagination

A typical day started out in Zing Zing world. The sun was up today. It was bright but surprisingly the day was cool. Sometimes, Mr Up Up Up wondered the world would end soon in this lifetime. The weather today was an indication.        Mrupupup hopped onto the local Zing Zing World transport - Mass Doobie Transport (the train). Poor transport authorities, every other day somehow or rather a train would break down somewhere out there. Life goes on even the train don't work. Zing Zing world people are a zealous lot; out to work, out to school, out to some hobby, out to have life.        Zoom. The train came and picked up Mrupupup. Off it went to the location - the imaginary stop of Makanworld. Ding dong, alighting Mrupupup. The trains in Zing Zing world were like space capsules, it moved fast and very automated (without drivers).         Makanworld. Zing Zing World's stop for food. Mrupupup thought that Zing Zing World was one big makan nation. Apologies to those readers fr

Studio M Hotel - a staycation experience

Image
Well, Mrupupup cannot go overseas so indulged in a 'staycation' in a local Singapore Hotel named Studio M Hotel located at 3 Nanson Road (quite near to Clarke Quay area). Studio M Hotel is part of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels Group. The unique part of this hotel is their 'loft' concept meaning the bed is located at the top after climbing a small ladder which is quite cool. The bed is super cosy and the stylish room comes with two TVs (applicable to certain room type). The great thing was the room Mrupupup stayed in had a great view of the Singapore River. Staycation also means visiting the nearby cafes and shops along the Singapore River for nice coffee, seafood or even Japanese ramen! The Studio M Hotel served up a nice buffet breakfast with freshly made pancakes and omlettes (yummy!) Totally enjoyed the Studio M Hotel facilities (loved the swimming pool) and had a relaxing time, too bad it is only for one night. Hope someone can sponsor Mrupupup to stay longer in

Over a pot of mussels in a French cafe

On a rainy day, Mrupupup was in a French Cafe having a pot of mussels. The French cafe was small and homely. The shop owners chatted freely with the customers and engaged in polite converations. When the lady shop owner came to Mrupupup, she said 'Bon nuit', how is the food?' Mrupupup replied, 'Tres Bien!'. Mrupupup was a rare overseas asian faced visitor to the lady owner's cafe.           This French cafe was located in the walled city of Saint Malo, at the Britanny region of France. Saint Malo could be described as a beautiful place in France. The walled city of Saint Malo gave it a 'old style' medieval feel of Europe along with the contrasting modern shops and supermarket Carrefour. The people here in Saint Malo were more friendly as compared to the hurried city folks in Paris. As Mrupupup walked on the cobbled streets, the sights and senses made one wonder. Memories returned to Mrupupup of the strong winds from the ocean, the tree stumps along Sai

Games...

Mrupupup enjoyed a day of games today. Yeah. It was fun. The game was social mahjong. Do you know mahjong? Mahjong the enjoyable game played by Chinese Asians involving tiles of game cards and trying to form patterns to win a game. Mahjong can be really addictive. Well, Mrupupup just play for fun. The mahjong game played was against very experienced mahjong players. Mrupupup was just happy to win one game. Totally enjoyable. Mahjong challenges the mind and maybe just maybe delays the decline of mind power.
