Chingay 2014 Singapore

Image
Mrupupup got the chance to attend the preview Chingay 2014 show at the Singapore F1 pit area. Thanks to the organisers! The Chingay 2014 show was really nice. The theme of diverse cultures and family managed to pull the 'heartstrings' of the audience.  Mrupupup enjoyed the various performances and colourful display of lights and costumes. Only in Singapore could the many races and diverse cultures be on display for people to enjoy in the Chingay Parade show. As this year 2014 was the year of the Horse, there was even a huge replica horse. Great Chingay 2014!

Moon andy Biiboo

Moon rises and calm prevails in Zing Zing World. The rustle of clothes been 'tanned' by the moonlight at our Zing Zing World Doobie Apartments. Softly and gently are the snores of the night. From the night, rises the Night Watchman covering all of Zing Zing World.        The Night Watchman complained of the recent case of some strange "Andyman" complaining of our Doobie trains. Andyman is a pink skin being from outer realm of Zing Zing World.  Night Watchman felt that the Andyman was a bad menace to Zing Zing World. "Let society rise up against the tyranny of Andyman although Doobie Trains were at fault at times," exclaimed the Night Watchman.       Zing Zing World settled into the night. Her motherland feeling at peace, but the morning would come. Zing Zing World would spring to life again. The cycle of Doobie trains would begin as everyday would be and the netizens of Zing Zing World would continue in its quest to fill the internet space.      The mo

Story imagination

A typical day started out in Zing Zing world. The sun was up today. It was bright but surprisingly the day was cool. Sometimes, Mr Up Up Up wondered the world would end soon in this lifetime. The weather today was an indication.        Mrupupup hopped onto the local Zing Zing World transport - Mass Doobie Transport (the train). Poor transport authorities, every other day somehow or rather a train would break down somewhere out there. Life goes on even the train don't work. Zing Zing world people are a zealous lot; out to work, out to school, out to some hobby, out to have life.        Zoom. The train came and picked up Mrupupup. Off it went to the location - the imaginary stop of Makanworld. Ding dong, alighting Mrupupup. The trains in Zing Zing world were like space capsules, it moved fast and very automated (without drivers).         Makanworld. Zing Zing World's stop for food. Mrupupup thought that Zing Zing World was one big makan nation. Apologies to those readers fr

Curry Times - Serving Yummy Curry Dishes

Image
From the international franchise Old Chang Kee (the famous curry puff store), comes a cafe dedicated to serving all things curry. Curry Times is located at #01-07, Novena Velocity, 238 Thomson Road. Mrupupup got the lunch value set of curry chicken with rice, spicy long beans and red bandung drink (Rose syrup drink) at $8.90. Pretty good curry stuff - loved the tender chicken pieces with spicy curry sauce served together with fragrant rice. Other dishes we had were the curry chicken ramen noodles (about $8) and the dry chicken rice (about $8). Mrupupup also loved the decorations of the café with servers in traditional clothes. The great thing about Curry Times was that they serve biscuits - old style biscuits of sugar and it is for free! Best dish- Curry Chicken with rice & long beans   Free Biscuits     Bandung drink (Rose syrup)   Curry Chicken Ramen   A bit too dry - Dry chicken curry rice (it's spicy)

Genki Sushi at Chinatown Point

Image
Mrupupup has been going to this Genki Sushi outlet at Chinatown Point - 133 New Bridge Road (#02-33). Mrupupup loved the smart high tech system in place to order for the Japanese dishes. One could get a little excited when the food train comes with the food and a bit of fun by ordering using the Ipad provided. Just order and the food train would deliver pretty fast within a few minutes. Mrupupup ordered the fresh sushi, tempura rice bowl and the sushi rice bowl. The sushi served by Genki Sushi always tasted 'fresh'. The sushi rice bowl with prawns, fish roe, tuna sushi and swordfish sushi. Mrupupup also liked the tempura rice bowl with the crispy fried pieces of prawn, eggplant, mushroom and pepper. Genki Sushi also provides comfortable sitting and has cups of water (self service). The prices were decent: rice bowls about $7.80, sushi about $2 and handroll with sushi about $2.30. Enjoy sushi with high tech trains!     Yummy salmon handroll     High

Le Cafe Golf Ball Size Pineapple Tarts

Image
In the spirit of the up-coming Chinese new Year, Mrupupup visited the Le Café at Blk 42 Cambridge Road. Le Café also have outlets at Blk 637 Veerasamy Road and 264 Middle Road. Wow, the golf ball size pineapple tarts was simply big and very nice. Mrupupup tried one pineapple tart and it was so filling that mrupupup had no much appetite for other snacks. The pineapple tart was huge, flavourful, yummy and totally enjoyable. Mrupupup say go try the pineapple tarts and each box varies from $18 to $21 (for ten big tarts) depending on when you buy the tarts, as closer to Chinese New Year date would mean an increase in price. Slowly enjoying the golf ball pineapple tart while writing this blog post. So very good!     The shops also sells other traditional cookies

Crystal Jade Kitchen at Parkway Parade

Image
Once in a while, Mrupupup would like to sit down in a Chinese restaurant and eat. Mrupupup tried out the Crystal Jade Kitchen at Parkway Parade shopping mall at Marine Parade. Mrupupup had the tender steamed chicken, special simmering soup noodles and pomelo drink.   The chicken dish was very good. The meat was tender and marinade with a special sauce. Mrupupup ordered the very last chicken for the day. Lucky Mrupupup. Price $14.50 per steamed chicken       Special simmering noodles soup with seafood, large prawns and char siew meat. The noodles was in a soup bowl of shark fin's soup (without shark fin). The soup got other ingredients like fish, squid, char siew and mushroom. Totally enjoyable and a special taste to Mrupupup. Noodles soup costs $12.80.         All the food was paired up with a good glass of refreshing pomelo drink. Take note the drink is sour and sweet. Pomelo drink was also a good detoxing agent. Very nice at $1.50 per glass.   Ok, M

Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah 龍發豆沙饼 (Balestier Road)

Image
Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah 龍發豆沙饼  at 639 Balestier Road serves up one of the best Tau Sar Piah (Chinese biscuits) according to Mrupupup. As one would know, Balestier Road has so many stores selling Tau Sar Piah, Mrupupup figured it out today that the one at Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah served up the best Tau Sar Piah. Tau Sar Piah is a bean paste biscuit. Mrupupup tried the Tau Sar Piah and found it delicious, especially with a good cup of coffee! The older generation of Singapore loved eating Tau Sar Piah with coffee. Tau Sar Piah came in sweet or salty version and costs 60 cents each. The crust of the Tau Sar Piah was buttery and with the bean paste the biscuit was yummy! Haha, Mrupupup felt happy eating Tau Sar Piah. Take note that Loong Fatt is also a old style coffee shop that sells lunch and all sorts of biscuits & cakes. One can just hang out at this place and feel the old style 70s of Singapore.     Tau Sar Piah !!!

Woodlands Waterfont Singapore

Image
From Admiralty Park, Woodlands Waterfront was a short walk for a quick visit. This waterfront area consists of one long jetty which stretches out to the sea. Opposite Woodlands Waterfront is the Johor Bahru Malaysia. The jetty is a long stretch with many people out fishing. Take a stroll along the Woodlands Waterfront can be quite a relaxing event. Enjoy the sea breeze and the view of Johor Bahru Malaysia Singapore's northern point park - Woodlands Waterfront is a very nice place to chill and relax

Admiralty Park Singapore

Image
Admiralty Park is a very quiet park located at the northern part of Singapore and just next to Republic Polytechnic. The park has two sides to it: urban park with bicycle path & small river (gravel) and forest park area. Mrupupup felt that this park is a bit too neat and not 'wild' enough (not many creatures/birds to see).  However, the park is a good place to take skyline photos - very blue skies. Check out the photos of the blue skies of Singapore at Admiralty Park.

Countdown at Singapore Marina Bay Fireworks 2014 and Celebrate TV50 Show

Image
Mrupupup had great fun attending the Countdown Party at Marina Bay Area Singapore. Countdown TV50 concert was held to celebrate TV's 50 years of Singapore Television. Mrupupup enjoyed the concert with special TV actors like Phua Chua Kang, Cast from City Beat, Under one Roof and great boy band "the Wanted" from United Kingdom and of course Superstar Mr Wang Lee Hom (the most popular singer that night)! Mediacorp held the 5 hour showcase of TV 'live' celebrations, going through the best moments of television in Singapore. Great event, Mediacorp! The Countdown TV50 at the Marina Bay platform also showcased the most exciting fireworks Mrupupup had seen in Singapore - very nice and visually stunning fireworks matched with nice background music. Mrupupup took photos of the fireworks and the ever colourful 'wishing' balls in the Marina Bay area. Nice pictures and video below. Mrupupup wants to thank URA for sponsoring the Countdown TV50 concert tickets! H
