Johor Bahru Malaysia One Day Trip from Singapore

Image
Mrupupup went on a day trip to Johor Bahru from Singapore. Johor Bahru which is in Malaysia is located next door to Singapore and needs one to cross the Causeway to clear immigration. Really enjoyed the day trip to Johor Bahru because things were cheaper due to the favourable exchange rate of the Singapore dollar against the Malaysia currency Ringgit. Do changed your Singapore dollars to Malaysian Ringgit in Singapore for the rate is better at SGP $1 to $2.51 Ringgit (estimated).  Once you cross the Causeway in Johor Bahru and the rate is lower at $2.442 Ringgit. Mrupupup took the bus from Woodlands Bus Interchange - Bus Stop 950 and the bus stop had a lot of people and need to wait at least 20 mins. Cross the Causeway Bridge in the Bus - do expect traffic jams of an 1 hour as many people want to go to Johor Bahru even on a weekday Mrupupup spent the whole day at one shopping centre which was near to immigration 'City Square' shopping mall  located at

Coastes at Siloso Beach Sentosa for Dinner

Image
Coastes place is located at Siloso Beach, Sentosa, Singapore. Mrupupup went with a group of friends to try out their food for dinner. Coastes was really nice for a breezy evening on a Friday. The Sentosa sea wave was nearby and people were feeling so relaxed at Coastes. The waiters serving us were dressed in relaxing attire like T-shirts & slippers. We ordered their house 'specials' - Seafood stew ($28), beachy prawn pizza ($22 per pizza), honey beef ribs ($26), fish & chips ($20), Coastes freeze drinks ($9) and beers. The seafood stew which came with bread slices were really nice and the delicious stew had mussels, crayfish, prawns, fish slices and clams. We ordered two seafood stews! The beachy prawn pizza was an interesting and the honey beef ribs, really nice and tender beef (yums!). The fish & chips dish was huge. Totally enjoyed the evening with the Coastes Freeze drink in hand which was non-alcoholic and refreshing too.  Loved the sound of the waves and enjoy

The Courtyard- Rendezvous Hotel for dinner

Image
Mrupupup had dinner at the The Courtyard, located at the Rendezvous Hotel, 9 Bras Basah Road, Dhoby Ghaut area, Singapore. The Courtyard is an outdoor eating place of the Rendezvous Hotel. The place was quiet when Mrupupup went there during a weekend evening. Mrupupup had dinner of their house fish & chips ($17.80) and their chicken in cream sauce ($14.80). The house fish & chips was nice and the fried fish fillet was wrapped in their Rendezvous Hotel newsletter which was quite environmentally friendly. The chicken in cream sauce was good and loved the mushrooms in a very creamy white sauce. Overall, the place was quiet and one can have good conversations over a decent meal. Yummysss!

Eat at Taipei (new eating place) 吃在台北

Image
Mrupupup went to the newly renovated Chinatown Point. Mrupupup walked around the Chinatown Point and stumbled upon a Taiwanese eatery known as 'Eat at Taipei'  吃在台北  (at level 1, next to Toast Box). Well, one could guess the place served up Taiwanese food. 'Eat at Taipei' at Chinatown Point is their second outlet in Singapore, the other outlet is at JCube in Jurong. Mrupupup tried the 'coffin' toast' - about $8 (1st time trying!) which looked like a coffin, actually fried bread filled with thick white sauce, prawns, squid and fish slices. 'Coffin toast' was unique and first time for Mrupupup.  We next tried the ginger duck soup (about $4.90) which came in a small bowl but was filled with ingredients and the thick herbal soup (quite good!). 'Eat at Taipei' was a pretty good place to try Taiwanese food and Mrupupup would come again to try their desserts like shaved ice dessert & bubble tea.

Tropical Christmas in Singapore 2012

Image
Orchard Road in Singapore came alive with many shoppers during this Christmas period in Singapore. The lights were up for Christmas along Orchard Road. Mrupupup had a 'tropical' Christmas in Singapore. This year many people commented that the lights were not very nice. Well, Mrupupup felt great with all the lights and hope it would happen every year. The lights looked like lesser as compared to last year and the design of the Christmas lights were not very interesting. Anyway, Mrupupup enjoyed Orchard Road with children singing, nativity scenes set up and roman soldiers walking around like in some 'roman city'. It was great fun walking around, taking many pictures in Orchard Road and shopping too! Ho Ho Ho ! Merry Christmas to Mrupupup's Blog readers.
