The Intan- Peranakan House Museum

Went to visit the Intan - a Peranakan House Museum which holds many personal collections of the Peranakan culture. Peranakan culture is created due to the inter-marriages of Chinese immigrants with Malay or Indian races. Peranakan culture can be found in parts of Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The visit to the Intan was complementary for me due to the good folks in History Asia. The Intan is a special museum as it serves as a residence for the owner and private useum to hold all the Peranakan artefacts which are of a high value.

The Intan contains many Perankan artefacts on display - beaded shoes, special furniture, exquisite bowls, antiques of high craftmanship and special historical artefacts that are not commonly found in the Perankan culture. The Intan Peranakan Museum is located at 69 Joo Chiat Terrace, Singapore, and needs special permission from the owner to visit the place. Its ok, I took some photographs of the Intan for your viewing pleasure.

Well, there is a Japanese Soba shop at Nex Mall - Shimbahsi Soba. Shimbashi Soba is located within Shokutsu 10 at basement 1 in Serangoon Nex Mall. They specialise in Japanese Soba noodles handmade from freshly ground buckwheat. We had a set meal which comes with soba with 'mochi' pieces inside the soup, japanese rice, japanese cucumbers, mushrooms, radishes and orange slices. Its a pretty healthy meal.

Man on the Ledge Movie

Well, got invited to a free preview movie screening of the 'Man on the Ledge'. It is a movie about 'literally' a man on the ledge. The ledge was on the Roosevelt Hotel in USA. Pretty good movie about a man (an ex-cop) trying hard to clear his name in a robbery case by trying to commit suicide from the ledge of the Roosevelt  Hotel. Love the movie for it had a good story line.  Nice!

The movie will open in major cinemas on 1 March 2012 in Singapore.

Nanyang Old Coffee Cafe

Nanyang Old Coffee Cafe located at South Bridge Road in the heart of Chinatown Singapore serves nice old style coffee. The place has an 'old-school' vibe to it with its 'old fashion' coffee cups for the hot drinks, and love the distinct red colour to the cafe facade. Enjoy the robust coffee with good friends. Thanks to the History Channel folks for the coffee treat. Nice!

Tiong Bahru Estate Singapore

Tiong Bahru Estate in Singapore is filled with old style buildings which can be quite interesting. Took several photographs of the area. If you like architecture, do visit Tiong Bahru estate which is a lot different from Singapore's main HDB housing skyscrapers.  The place is now filled with lots of cafes, arts shops and eateries. Great place to discover old style Singapore which is fast disappearing.
