Over a pot of mussels in a French cafe

On a rainy day, Mrupupup was in a French Cafe having a pot of mussels. The French cafe was small and homely. The shop owners chatted freely with the customers and engaged in polite converations. When the lady shop owner came to Mrupupup, she said 'Bon nuit', how is the food?' Mrupupup replied, 'Tres Bien!'. Mrupupup was a rare overseas asian faced visitor to the lady owner's cafe.           This French cafe was located in the walled city of Saint Malo, at the Britanny region of France. Saint Malo could be described as a beautiful place in France. The walled city of Saint Malo gave it a 'old style' medieval feel of Europe along with the contrasting modern shops and supermarket Carrefour. The people here in Saint Malo were more friendly as compared to the hurried city folks in Paris. As Mrupupup walked on the cobbled streets, the sights and senses made one wonder. Memories returned to Mrupupup of the strong winds from the ocean...

Au Chocolate @ Marina Bay Sands

Image
Au Chocolate is a new French theme food store. The bistro sells all things 'French' inspired. Mrupupup has been to France and this 'Au Chocolate' place at Marina Bay Sands Singapore gives me nostalgic feelings. The bistro is located at Level 1- 03, above the skating rink. Mrupupup was impressed by the deco: got dog as a mascot/logo, got a train hovering above, fire place, beautiful art drawings, nice tiles and the wait staff wearing French hats. Very nice! The food was great too. Mrupupup had a very thick hot chocolate, chocolate cake (big piece!) and lemon meringue (very sweet and well done!). Oh one more thing, the next door to the bistro sells lots of confectionery items likes sweets, ice cream and chocolates. Mrupupup enjoyed Au Chocolate place and took many photos! Viva France! Tres Bien!

Travels - Mount Saint Michel, France

Image
Mrupupup visited the famous UNESCO site in France - Mount Saint Michel. The place is famous for the church sited on top of a rocky tidal island and the religious community. Located at the Normandy area in France, it will be tricky to go there unless you are travelling on a package tour. Well, Mrupupup went there by local transportation. First, I stayed in Saint Malo for a night, then I bought the train and bus package for about 21 euros (two ways) to Mount Saint Michel. Try to buy early at the SNCF train station at Saint Malo. If you don't speak French, its ok just point to the brochure of Mount Saint Michel. I am quite surprised that every transport (bus and train) runs on time in France.                                                 ...

Travels- France: Saint Malo

Image
Saint Malo in France is a famous walled city and famous fortress for wars in Britanny area of France. One can take the TGV train (fast train) from Paris to Saint Malo (about 3 hours journey). Saint Malo is a beautiful place and not so crowded with tourists like Paris. One can relax, enjoy the very nice beach, have a big pot of mussels (cheap and value for money) served by friendly people, oysters, savoury crepes (yummy!) and walk one round around the city via the walled section. Mrupupup stayed in a nice hotel inside the walled city, was nice and peaceful there. Enjoy the sun rise in the port area and see seagulls flying. Enjoy my photos and video, if you got a chance, do try to spend a few days at Saint Malo, France. Travels - France : Paris

Image
Mrupupup went to France. Visited their famous capital Paris! "Pa-yreee" Well, Mrupupup kind of disappointed by the hype over Paris. It is a nice city but it is not safe and kind of chaotic. The plus points of Paris are the beauitful world class museums, palaces, nice churches and shopping for branded goods. The downside of the city are the people which maybe stressed out over life, creaky old metro trains, crowds of people from all over the world, and small hotel rooms in the city centre. Nevertheless, Paris is still beautiful in its own way. Enjoy the photos of Paris.                      Eiffel Tower under Mrupupup's finger tips                            Eiffel Tower has shrunk!!!            ...
