Experience Karneval’s Gemütlichkeit at Brotzeit Singapore

Image
Karneval is a traditional German festival that dates back hundreds of years to mark the beginning of Lent. It is a time of eating, drinking and merriment, usually accompanied by a huge parade combining elements of a circus, masks and social satire. As part of the festivities, street vendors selling simple German fare such as pretzels and bratwursts, as well Karneval’s specialty beers, can be found on every corner to satisfy any hunger pangs. Come 16 January to 25 February 2018, Brotzeit Singapore is bringing the flavours and Gemütlichkeit (a feeling of warmth, friendliness, and good cheer) of Karneval to Singapore. In lieu of a parade, Brotzeit will be launching a specially-curated Karneval menu, featuring festival favourites and traditional beer from the land of Karneval, Cologne. Brotzeit is also introducing their We Dare You! Brotzeit Challenge, a “Man Vs Food” sausage-eating challenge for a pair of friends to finish eating a half-meter sausage baguette together. Brotzeit dares ...

District 10 Bar & Grill Suntec City Singapore

Image
Mrupupup had a nice time at District 10 Bar & Grill at Suntec City Tower 2 Singapore (near to the taxi stand at the ground floor). District 10 serves great food at decent prices. Mrupupup tasted a variety of wines from the Italian Zonin Wines - red wine, white wine and dessert wines. Mrupupup loved the slowly roasted beef and is their signature dish. The beef was awesome and so juicy. Apparently, the special beef sat in an aeroplane, exported to Singapore, placed in a fridge (imported from Italy at the cost of $22,000!) and dry aged. Very nice beef! The Italian chef also prepared for the group a special pasta with duck meat. Very refined food with excellent Italian touches. Reminded me of Mrupupup's recent trip to Italy. The dessert served was also excellent. The berry tart dessert was served with generous portions of gold on top of the berry tart. Enjoyed the wines during the night. District 10 Grill & Bar is a cosy place. Mrupupup loved the one thing f...

Bakerzin Singapore Desserts Cakes at Vivocity outlet

Image
Singapore is one hot country, I mean the weather. Mrupupup got no choice but to rest at a café in Vivocity to escape from the heat. Using promotion 1-1 offers (two cakes at $10), Mrupupup had a great time eating up two cakes from Bakerzin café at Vivocity (level one near to CK Tangs store). The two cakes were New York cheesecake and Chocolate cake with ice cream. The New York cheesecake was awesome. Loved the melt in the mouth feeling of the cheese. The cake was not too sweet but flavourful. Very yummy! The chocolate cake was not too sweet, but Mrupupup got a sweet tooth so did not like the slight bitter taste of good quality chocolate used in the cake. But it was nice also! The Bakerzin café was so bright in the day time afternoon that Mrupupup had to wear sunglasses to shield off from the afternoon sun's blazing glare. Ok, back to the cool interiors of Vivocity mall after eating the yummy cakes.

Mr Baguette -store that sells Baguette!

Image
I like Mr Baguette. Located at Golden Mile Hawker Centre, along Beach Road #B1-51 store number. As the name of the store implies, the humble store sells baguette (French bread cups but in smaller version) that are filled with different toppings like egg custard, red velvet, tiramisu and many flavours. The prices are reasonable about $1.50 to $1.80. The baguette bread came in a small bread cup, eat it slowly or you would get your mouth and even your nose stuff with the fillings (haha, mrupupup's nose got red velvet filling once). Mrupupup also bought Mr Baguette's garlic bread which was very crispy and nice. If you ask Mrupupup, the fillings with egg custard and red velvet were the most yummy! Eat the baguette while it is hot- super nice!

Alfero Artisan Gelato at Orchard Gateway

Image
Alfero Artisan Gelato at Orchard Gateway #B02-06 got the most yummy Gelato Ice Cream on the island. With a voucher for $5, Mrupupup tried out the Gelato at Alfero Artisan Gelato. Mrupupup looked at the various tubs of Gelato. The tubs were chilled and hidden inside those tubs were various flavours of Gelato. There were flavours of hazelnut, durian (premium), chocolate, berries and many more. As we were trying to match the flavours for two scoops, Mrupupup ordered the Matcha Green Tea and yuzu flavours. These two flavours - one sweet (matcha) and the other a bit sour (yuzu fruit). The combinations was yummy and smooth. With the voucher, mrupupup paid only $0.90 of the $5.90 price. Mrupupup also had a nice seat inside the shop which was crowded on a weekday night. People were just chatting over the Gelato and having a good time. Oh, taken from the table-note about Gelato as compared to normal ice cream, Gelato contains all natural ingredients which...

Everything with Fries at Bugis Junction EwF

Image
Mrupupup goes once in a while to Everything with Fries (EwF). You know what Mrupupup likes at EwF - it is their awesome Nutella Shake! The Nutella Shake is very, very nice. The thick smooth nutella taste just slides the drink into your mouth, Yummy! Oh, one more thing, EwF adds Oreo cookie bits on top of the Nutella Shake, just so good.   The other items ate at EwF were the juicy burgers. Mrupupup tried the lamb burger and the mushroom burgers. Both burgers came with EwF signature thick fries which had toppings like sour cream. The Mushroom Burger was good with the yummy mushrooms inside the burger. The lamb burger was not bad but was a bit dry in taste.   Last time, EwF used to ok with their pricing. Now, dining at the EwF outlet in Bugis Junction #04-05 (next to the movie theatre) would not be cheap. The burgers range from $13 to $18 depending on the type of burger you like. The Nutella shake costs about $8. I guess with high rental at sho...

Spruce at 320 Tanglin Road - Breakfast Yummy

Image
Mrupupup had a yummy western style breakfast at Spruce located at 320 Tanglin Road (near to foreign embassy area and Crescents' Girl School). Spruce is nice restaurant with interesting photographs. Loved the photographs which brings a little class to the eating place. The photographs made Mrupupup want to visit the country like Myammar. Spruce has friendly waiters and the feel of the place was cosy and nice! The breakfast was yummy sausages with scrambled eggs. Totally delicious! Loved the apple juice that went well with sausages. The awesome toasted bagels were great with juicy fat sausages and smoked salmon on offer. Mrupupup loved bagels especially with lots of cream cheese! The morning weekend spent at Spruce definitely spruced up the weekend mood! Burps!       Awesome Bagels!

Spuds And Aprons at Mount Faber

Image
Spuds and Aprons at the top of Mount Faber Singapore is a western restaurant opened at the cable car station - Mount Faber. Mrupupup loved to go to Spuds and Aprons just to have a meal with a good view overlooking the Keppel Bay area. Mrupupup tried out the pan fried salmon which came with lots of vegetables and special tangy sauce to make the salmon taste much better. The other dish Mrupupup was the linguine pasta with cream sauce and came with lots of mushrooms. Mrupupup preferred this mushroom creamy pasta over the salmon (which was a bit dry) and had a nice smooth taste to it. The cream sauce was the difference to the pasta. Spuds and Apron's best point would be the awesome view. Well, with the nice view meant the food would be a bit pricey (but it is manageable). The pasta and salmon dishes were within $15 - $25. Enjoy the meal and see the cable car coming up to its station at Mount Faber.

SET at POMO Comtemporary Value Set Meals

Image
Mrupupup went for a nice food session at SET located in POMO Mall at 1 Selegie Road #02-01 (next to TCC outlet). SET recently opened in August 2014 and the owners were formerly from TAO's eating place formerly located at POMO also. SET restaurant offers contemporary cuisine, and comes in set lunch and set dinner menu. Prices range from around $28.80++ for 5 course and $38.80++ for 6 course meal. Pretty good value for the 6 course set meal which came with chef starter dish, side dish, soup, cold dish, one main course and dessert. You have a choice of 3 to 5 items for main course, soup and dessert sections. Mrupupup had Chef Starter (which change regularly) of foie gras with red wine (pretty good!), cold dish of smoked duck, tomato caprese, Huai San Carpaccio (a kind of Chinese Yam), Salmon Gravlax. SET created fusion of Chinese and Western style to come up with the interesting cold dishes. Mrupu...
