Mrupupup encountered an NTUC Roving Truck. Well, this truck would be going around Singapore to provide goodies and discounts on NTUC items like health supplements, health screening, health products for the seniors. Each month the truck will have a different theme like health, cooking, fun learning, relax time, stay active and eat well. Well, the truck is part of NTUC's social enterprise Pioneers OK! Package. Mrupupup was invited to attend the Chunk Fest 2014 by Ben & Jerry's held in the Gardens by the Bay Singapore (Meadow area). Ok, Mrupupup went to the Chunk Fest to eat lots of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Mrupupup had about 6 cups of ice cream of various flavours. The Chunk Fest was great fun with lots of games, movie screening and social enterprise marketplace stores selling many unique stuff to help the less privileged in our society!  Thanks Ben and Jerry's for Chunk Fest 2014 Singapore!         Mrupupup ate so many cups of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream!

The Christmas festive season is here in Singapore! This would be a Happy Blog Post!   Mrupupup attended the light up of the Christmas Charitrees 2013 along the Waterfront Promenade, Marina Bay.    Christmas ChariTrees @ Marina Bay is a unique event by Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) & Community Chest. Launched in 2011 and now into its 3rd year, Christmas ChariTrees @ Marina Bay is a good platform for companies to express their corporate social responsibility during the festive season.   The theme for this year’s Christmas ChariTrees – Story Trees is about the touching and uplifting “Story” of struggles and triumphs in overcoming individual challenges. “Story” served as ideas and inspiration for each uniquely designed and handcrafted decoration by the students from LASALLE College of the Arts.   Mrupupup loved the very well designed trees and also enjoyed the music by the Military Band on site - beautiful Christmas songs played by the band.   When & W

Mrupupup attended Laksania's talk by their boss. Laksania serves very nice Laksa which is a spicy noodle dish. Laksania located at the Nex Mall (#B1-08) serves Kelantan laksa, Singapore Laksa, Penang Laksa and Sarawak Laksa. Laksania is a social entreprise store and it is a sister company of the famous Secret Receipe. Their Boss of Laksania shared the difficulties of setting up this store to help the less fortunate people in society via gainful employment in Laksania. Social Entreprise in Singapore is not easy and only business people with the toughest minds chart out their paths and are determine to help the less fortunate in society. The food in Laksania was good and Mrupupup tried their Sarawak Laksa which was spicy, yummy and comes with chicken meat. Laksania also serves Laksa Goreng (fried noodles with laksa sauce), laksa satay, various desserts and many laksa types of food. All the food items are nice and served by very friendly staff, some of whom do face challenges in life.

Dignity Kitchen is a food court with a purpose and it is different. The purpose of Dignity Kitchen is to train the disabled persons, disadvantaged and elderly so that they can get a job and be independent. Dignity Kitchen is a social entreprise food court located at Techview, 1 Kaki Bukit View, next to Bedok North Secondary School and was set up in 2010. The food court serves all sorts of food: Indian, Western, Malay, Chinese and various snacks stores. Mrupupup was very impressed by Mr Koh Seng Choon, the person behind Dignity Kitchen. He personally set up this food court cum hawker training school without any sponsorship grants, to help the disadvantaged persons in Singapore's society to receive training and get a job. He really got guts and determination to succeed and overcame all the odds, as there is no where else in the world that has this type of facility to help the disadvantaged. Joan Bowen is a special cafe. The cafe is a social entreprise that serves to build up people with special needs by providing employment in the cafe. The food is good and the environment is nice. Joan Bowen cafe has two outlets in Singapore. The branch I had lunch was at St Andrew's Village while the other branch is at Jalan Wangi.
