Mr Baguette -store that sells Baguette!

Image
I like Mr Baguette. Located at Golden Mile Hawker Centre, along Beach Road #B1-51 store number. As the name of the store implies, the humble store sells baguette (French bread cups but in smaller version) that are filled with different toppings like egg custard, red velvet, tiramisu and many flavours. The prices are reasonable about $1.50 to $1.80. The baguette bread came in a small bread cup, eat it slowly or you would get your mouth and even your nose stuff with the fillings (haha, mrupupup's nose got red velvet filling once). Mrupupup also bought Mr Baguette's garlic bread which was very crispy and nice. If you ask Mrupupup, the fillings with egg custard and red velvet were the most yummy! Eat the baguette while it is hot- super nice!

Image
Alfero Artisan Gelato at Orchard Gateway #B02-06 got the most yummy Gelato Ice Cream on the island. With a voucher for $5, Mrupupup tried out the Gelato at Alfero Artisan Gelato. Mrupupup looked at the various tubs of Gelato. The tubs were chilled and hidden inside those tubs were various flavours of Gelato. There were flavours of hazelnut, durian (premium), chocolate, berries and many more. As we were trying to match the flavours for two scoops, Mrupupup ordered the Matcha Green Tea and yuzu flavours. These two flavours - one sweet (matcha) and the other a bit sour (yuzu fruit). The combinations was yummy and smooth. With the voucher, mrupupup paid only $0.90 of the $5.90 price. Mrupupup also had a nice seat inside the shop which was crowded on a weekday night. People were just chatting over the Gelato and having a good time. Oh, taken from the table-note about Gelato as compared to normal ice cream, Gelato contains all natural ingredients which...

Image
In the spirit of the up-coming Chinese new Year, Mrupupup visited the Le Café at Blk 42 Cambridge Road. Le Café also have outlets at Blk 637 Veerasamy Road and 264 Middle Road. Wow, the golf ball size pineapple tarts was simply big and very nice. Mrupupup tried one pineapple tart and it was so filling that mrupupup had no much appetite for other snacks. The pineapple tart was huge, flavourful, yummy and totally enjoyable. Mrupupup say go try the pineapple tarts and each box varies from $18 to $21 (for ten big tarts) depending on when you buy the tarts, as closer to Chinese New Year date would mean an increase in price. Slowly enjoying the golf ball pineapple tart while writing this blog post. So very good!     The shops also sells other traditional cookies

Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah 龍發豆沙饼  at 639 Balestier Road serves up one of the best Tau Sar Piah (Chinese biscuits) according to Mrupupup. As one would know, Balestier Road has so many stores selling Tau Sar Piah, Mrupupup figured it out today that the one at Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah served up the best Tau Sar Piah. Tau Sar Piah is a bean paste biscuit. Mrupupup tried the Tau Sar Piah and found it delicious, especially with a good cup of coffee! The older generation of Singapore loved eating Tau Sar Piah with coffee. Tau Sar Piah came in sweet or salty version and costs 60 cents each. The crust of the Tau Sar Piah was buttery and with the bean paste the biscuit was yummy! Haha, Mrupupup felt happy eating Tau Sar Piah. Take note that Loong Fatt is also a old style coffee shop that sells lunch and all sorts of biscuits & cakes. One can just hang out at this place and feel the old style 70s of Singapore.     Tau Sar Piah !!!   ...

Creamier Cafe and Ice Cream Parlor

Image
For this week, Creamier café and ice cream place made Mrupupup happy! Creamier served up one of the best handmade ice cream ever tasted in Mrupupup's life. Creamier is at a secret location in Toa Payoh. Just kidding, will share the location. Creamier is at 128 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh. Mrupupup tried out the handmade berries, orange vodka cranberry, chocolate and Horlicks flavour. Each flavour varies in price range from $3 to $3.40 per scoop and $5-$6 for two scoops. Durian Puff from Goodwood Park Hotel

Image
Mrupupup purchased two durian puffs from Goodwood Park Hotel, Singapore. Two small durian puffs costs $7. So expensive! Like eating two plates of chicken rice but very much smaller in size, haha! Ok, the durian puff was delicious and very filling. The durian puff had a generous amount of durian mousse! Very yummy! If one needs to satisfy a craving for durian, just go buy the durian puff and one piece would be enough because there was so much durian filling! Goodwood Park Hotel also has the durian fiesta till July 2013 - got all things filled with durian like cakes, pastries and of course the durian puffs!   Durian puffs in a box waiting to be eaten     Goodwood Park Hotel     Side view of durian puffs     Thick amount of durian filling     Durian puff came in a nice bag     Durian cakes and other pastries price list

Tim Ho Wan's Buns on Sale for Charity

Image
Mrupupup managed to grab one of Tim Ho Wan's famous char siew buns during their charity sale recently. One char siew bun was on sale for $2. Mrupupup wanted to try only one bun to taste. Wah! The char siew bun really lived up to its name as one of the five famous 'heavenly' food of Tim Ho Wan. Well, Tim Ho Wan is a one-Michelin star Hong Kong dim sum restaurant that recently opened in Singapore's Plaza Singapore (Atrium Wing) with very long queues everyday. The char siew bun made of pork fillings was very tasty and loved the crusty bun. Now, Mrupupup knows why Tim Ho Wan is so popular in Singapore. Mrupupup got to find one day when the queue is short to eat the other famous food items in Tim Ho Wan. Mrupupup felt very good to eat the nice char siew bun and do a bit for charity. Nice!

Max Brenner Chocolate Bar - Suckao Drink

Image
Mrupupup tried the Suckao chocolate drink at Max Brenner Chocolate Bar at Esplanade Mall Singapore (#01-08). First time tried the suckao drink which costs about $7. Well, this drink was special. It was like a chocolate drink but deconstructed by Max Brenner. The Suckao would be served with chocolate bits (dark type), milk, metal straw to suck and a pot to mix the milk and chocolate. The milk could be top 3 times. Add the chocolate bits to the hot milk, wait for the chocolate to melt. Once the chocolate melt in the hot milk, drink up! Enjoy the taste of your own chocolate drink. If you bored and could not wait, you could take a few chocolate bits and chew them to satisfy your chocolate cravings!
