I Light Marina Bay Singapore 2014 Light Festival

Image
I Light 2014 Singapore will be held at the Marina Bay Waterfront area. There will be various interesting light installations and some are interactive. For example, like a 'mimosa' plant type of lighting which interacts upon contact. The organisers were briefing us today that I Light will be a very special light installation festival and the designers would come from many countries. Mrupupup is looking forward to the light installation from Chile - glowing and will be beautiful to remember lives lost in an earthquake. Mrupupup has been to the Sydney Light Festival, Kobe luminaire and Osaka Light Festival, but Singapore will be home ground for Mrupupup. Looking forward to the I Light Marina Bay! I Light Marina Bay - 7 to 30 March 2014 - Marina Bay Waterfront Area Singapore - Free Admission - 7.30pm to 11pm.

Singapore Biennale 2013 enjoyable

Image
The Singapore Biennale 2013 will end soon by 16 February 2014. On 15 and 16 Feb 2014, the entrance is free to all art exhibitions of the Singapore Biennale 2013. Mrupupup really enjoyed the arts installations of the Singapore Biennale. Thanks to sponsor for the free ticket ($10 per entrance). Mrupupup wondered around the arts installations found at the Singapore Art Museum and the nearby 8Q @ SAM museum (Waterloo Street).  If you happen to go to see the Singapore Biennale and don't have much time to go to all the exhibits, go straight to Mrupupup's favourite of Japanese dancing animation on the third storey of Singapore Arts Museum. Mrupupup thought that this animation from Japan's teamLab with haunting music was the best arts installation for the Singapore Biennale. Go find "Peace can be realised even without order" - really good arts installation that was an intrigue to the senses and found a lasting imprint on Mrupupup's brain. Ok, enjoy the rest of the

Night Safari Unveils Art Seen and Herd! Exhibition on World Environment Day

Image
Mrupupup was invited a blogger's preview of the latest art work at the Night Safari Singapore. Night Safari’s Art Seen & Herd! exhibition was officially unveiled to the public, in celebration of World Environment Day 2013. Visitors to Night Safari were treated to a visual bonanza as four of Singapore’s street artists unleashed wild artworks inspired by threatened animals to spread awareness about poaching and the dwindling wildlife population.   All photos & opportunity to photograph the event are to be credited to Wildlife Reserves Singapore. Thanks to Wildlife Reserves Singapore for the invite!  The four artists - Michael Ng (‘Mindflyer’), Samantha Lo (‘SKL0’), Luthfi Mustafah (‘The Killer Gerbil’) and Eman Jeman (‘ClogTwo’) - also shared the inspiration and ideas behind their works, as well as the conservation messages that they hope to convey to visitors. Animals featured in the exhibition are often hunted and farmed to feed continuing consumer demand for anima

Jelly Bean Family Figures outside Plaza Singapore

Image
Mrupupup took a picture of the 'Jelly Bean Family' large size figures outside Plaza Singapore in Orchard Road. The 'Jelly Bean Family' consists of 2 parents and the 3 children. Mrupupup loved the colours once shone upon by the sun onto the Jelly Bean Family. The sculpture was eye catching and worth a second look. This Jelly Bean Family was done by an Italian artist named  Mauro Perucchetti. The sculptures symbolize multiculturalism, innocence and preciousness as written on the plaque.

Dempsey Hill is a popular place in Singapore. Dempsey Hill is located near to the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The place is filled with furniture shops, high end restaurants, butchery, brewery, and also arts gallery filled with very nice art pieces. Mrupupup took a few hours to walk around Dempsey Hill and discovered interesting images. Mrupupup even saw a collection of very colourful parrots next to a shop selling carpets. Interesting finds- $0.80 cold coke from Huber's butchery (quite cheap), many types of meats & beers from Huber's butchery and saw a huge fish in the pond in front of the 'Dempsey Hill' sign board, got a durian seller at the side road and a furniture shop that sells wooden chests and many types of wood products. Vocaluptuous Sings for Christmas 2012

Image
Vocaluptuous is one of Mrupupup's favourite acapella singing groups in Singapore. When Christmas comes along in Singapore, you could find Vocaluptuous team singing Christmas songs in one of Singapore's shopping centre. The acapella group sang very well in Paragon Shopping Centre located along Orchard Road over the weekend. Apparently, the group had a new addition to the team, a 19 year old boy named Kai that performed 'beatbox' type of sounds for the group (sound great!). Mrupupup always found it amazing that 6 guys and one girl could sing so well together in one harmony and with much passion. Great job, Vocaluptuous!
