Book Cafe at Martin Road

Image
Mrupupup was at the Book Cafe located along 20 Martin Road (near to the Robertson Quay area). Really enjoyable experience just to sit down in a nice cafe. Mrupupup had an all-day breakfast set at 2pm and coffee cappuccino  The Book Cafe was really crowded on a weekend afternoon. People just came into the cafe, ordered coffee & cake and turned on their laptops to read. Book Cafe really attracted an 'intellectual' crowd on an weekend afternoon. The food was pretty nice. The all day breakfast set came with bacon, hashbrown, eggs, toasted bread (about $12) and enjoyed the fragrant coffee (about $5). If you are bored in the Book Cafe, one could just pick up a book or magazine lying around the shelves. Pretty good day!

Studio M Hotel - a staycation experience

Image
Well, Mrupupup cannot go overseas so indulged in a 'staycation' in a local Singapore Hotel named Studio M Hotel located at 3 Nanson Road (quite near to Clarke Quay area). Studio M Hotel is part of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels Group. The unique part of this hotel is their 'loft' concept meaning the bed is located at the top after climbing a small ladder which is quite cool. The bed is super cosy and the stylish room comes with two TVs (applicable to certain room type). The great thing was the room Mrupupup stayed in had a great view of the Singapore River. Staycation also means visiting the nearby cafes and shops along the Singapore River for nice coffee, seafood or even Japanese ramen! The Studio M Hotel served up a nice buffet breakfast with freshly made pancakes and omlettes (yummy!) Totally enjoyed the Studio M Hotel facilities (loved the swimming pool) and had a relaxing time, too bad it is only for one night. Hope someone can sponsor Mrupupup to stay longer in

Mellben Seafood - Buttery Crabs

Image
Today was the first time Mrupupup tried the famous Mellben crabs. The eating place sells seafood and is most famous for selling crabs in chilli sauce, butter crabs, crabs in claypot and many more versions. Mrupupup tried for the first time their butter crabs. Wow, now Mrupupup understood why people can wait up to an hour for a spot at this eating place to try their crabs. The crab was fresh (only one big crab) and cooked in a buttery sauce which was very unique and slightly spicy. Mrupupup took one hour to eat the crab and enjoyed every piece of the crab cooked in the special buttery sauce. Tasted super nice! Well, Mrupupup would come to Mellben Seafood place located at Blk 232 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 during off-peak hours like after 9pm on a weekday as there was no queue. Mrupupup would only come to Mellben when people would like to give a  treat because the one piece of large crab cooked in any method would cost $50, very expensive and unique eating experience. When you go to Mellben Seafoo

Marukin Ramen Tokyo (Singapore Branch)

Image
Marukin Ramen Tokyo located a branch in Singapore Scotts Square basement level one ( along Scotts Road,Orchard Road Area). This famous ramen chain has a chicken broth as a base for the soup. From the menu, most of the items are chicken base items. Mrupupup had the chicken soup ramen with the chicken nuggets (cooked Japanese style). Mrupupup tasted the ramen and found it was quite ok with chunky pieces of chicken meat. The chicken nuggets was fried and quite oily to the taste. Anyway, Mrupupup had a nice meal at the Marukin Ramen store - their very first store in Singapore.

Laurent Bernard Chocolatier at Robertson Quay

Image
Laurent  Bernard opened the French patisserie at  Robertson Quay  in 2006. This  Cafe &  Chocolate  Bar located along the Pier @  Robertson Quay  does pastries, cakes and  chocolates . Mrupupup had a chance to visit the place and it was crowded on a weekend. People just came into the store to order the chocolate drinks, ice cream and wonderful desserts. Mrupupup had a classic Vienna Hot Chocolate drink ($9) and their Black Forest Cake ($7.80). Wow, their Black Forest Cake was OOOmmmmmph! So nice! The Black Forest had a great outer layer of chocolate, wonderful tasting inner core of sweet cherries and oooomph ! The classic hot chocolate was very nice too with a bitter chocolate taste. Mrupupup also tasted two sweet chocolates pieces filled with nuts and orange. Wa! Mrupupup just enjoyed a nice 'chocolatey' weekend. Black Forest Cake Hot Chocolate Drink

Teadot Cafe

Image
Teadot is a specialty tea cafe located at Nex Mall Level 2 (next to Starbucks) which serves a wide variety of cakes, coffee and tea concoction with exotic names. Mrupupup ordered  their matcha latte with creative coffee tea art on top. The Teadot Cafe is an open concept place and Mrupupup just shared one green tea matcha latte which costs $6.30 (a bit overpriced). The place was relaxing place for a cuppa and sharing interesting conversation. Mrupupup felt that the matcha latte was pretty but the taste lacked a bit of green tea. Anyway, Mrupupup slowly enjoyed the green tea matcha latte with Famous Amos biscuits (Yummss!).
