Gangster Squad - A Movie Preview

Image
Today, Mrupupup rushed to see a new movie "Gangster Squad' starring Sean Penn. The movie preview was at GV Max Vivocity. The movie was worth the rush for and loved the excitement of a American movie with good cops and bad guys theme. The story was good and story based on a bad crook in LA named Mickey Cohen (really bad person played by Sean Penn). The movie had lots of action (lots of guns and cars in the 60s' era), romance, little bit of humor,  heroes and a squad of cops willing to fight for justice and get rid of bad guys. Well, here comes the 'spoiler' the good guys won! Good movie enjoyed it and loved the acting by Sean Penn (full of intensity in his face). Thanks sponsor for the movie preview tickets. Release of the Gangster Squad movie on 10 Jan 2013.

Mrupupup went to the Pandan Reservoir and its park. Well, Mrupupup concluded that the western part of Singapore has awesome sunsets and Pandan Reservoir (located in the West) would be the place to see and photograph beautiful sunset. If you happen to stay near Pandan Reservoir in Singapore, all I can say everyday you can enjoy sunsets - lucky people living near Pandan Reservoir. Enjoy the pictures!

Red Ring Wanton Mee at Blk 46 Holland Drive

Image
Mrupupup was attracted to a stall that sells wanton mee in a coffeeshop located at Blk 46 Holland Drive. The stall's name was interesting 'Red Ring Wanton Mee'. Guessed the 'red ring' referred to the red colour of the char siew that came along with the noodles. The stall was interesting because the lady said that the wanton mee only came with a special sauce that was spicy, and they did not serve wanton mee with non-spicy sauce, unlike other places where wanton mee could be in sweet black sauce. Anyway, Mrupupup tried the red ring wanton mee ($3 small) portion and tasted unique and nice. The fried wanton (fried dumpling) about two pieces were made on the spot and crispy to the taste. The noodles tasted tangy and nice. The char siew 'red ring' meat was tender. Overall, although the portion was small, tasted good. Good for light meal during lunch time! OK, Mrupupup should eat 'light' at times.

Secret Recipe's Irish Lamb Stew

Image
Mrupupup had a craving for Secret Recipe restaurant's Irish Lamb Stew. Mrupupup went to the Secret Recipe outlet in Vivocity (#02-208). Mrupupup ordered the Irish Lamb stew ($18.90) and Lobster Bisque (soup) - $5.20. The lobster bisque had a strong lobster taste and it was nicely done. The Irish Lamb Stew is Secret Recipe's award winning dish. The Lamb Stew came with a piece of bread, mashed potato and a huge lamb bone covered with lots of very tender meat. The dish also had a interesting sauce and tasted well with the lamb meat. Overall, the craving for Irish Lamb Stew was satisfied. This Irish Lamb Stew cannot eat too often for it is really a 'heavy' dish. Do try the Irish Lamb Stew if one felt like a 'caveman' and wanting to have lots of meat and huge bone as leftover. Yummysss, Mrupupup felt like a caveman!

St Marc Cafe Singapore First Branch

Image
Woohooo.... There is a new Japanese Cafe in town - St Marc Cafe located at Vivocity First Floor (facing the harbour) and it is their first branch in Singapore. Mrupupup ordered a large cup matcha latte ($7) and their awesome croissants (plain and chocolate) - $2.40 and $2.60 each estimated. The green match latte was great and taste very nice especially with the croissants. The St Marc Cafe's croissants were really crispy and wonderful to the taste. Mrupupup ordered two croissants and felt like ordering more! Wonder why Mrupupup never encountered this St Marc Cafe when he went travelling in Japan! St Marc Cafe also serves up ice cream desserts, pastries, bread and various types of coffee. Do get their St Marc Cafe coupon which gives one a 10% discount on all items till May 2013. Mrupupup is going again to St Marc Cafe one day.

Brilliant Flares from Ships Happy New Year 2013

Image
Brilliant flares were up in the sky off East Coast Park Singapore on 1 January 2013. Mrupupup was at the East Coast Park to witness the brilliant flares up in the sky to celebrate the New Year 2013 by the ships parked off the east coast of Singapore. The flares were very nice and in colours of red or white. A great way to kick off the new year in Singapore. At the east coast, Mrupupup could also see the fireworks from the Marina Bay area. Great and better year ahead for 2013!
