Old Kim Guan Curry Chicken and felt like home cooked meals

Image
OKG Express - Old Kim Guan served 'home cooked' Chinese food at Nex Mall, #01-58 (near to UOB Bank). Indeed, Mrupupup felt that OKG Express lived up to their tag line of  "the good old taste of home cooking". Mrupupup tried their curry chicken, preserved vegetables with pork, lychee lemon tea drink and chin chow drink. Mrupupup got to say one thing - OKG served up very nice and fragrant rice. Without excellent 'fluffy' rice, chicken curry would not taste nice no matter how good it was. Well, with very good rice, the chicken curry ($5) was a good match with tender chicken wings and curry sauce that  was not too spicy. The 'Mei Cai Kou Rou' - preserved vegetables with tender pork slices ($3.80) went well with the chicken curry. Mrupupup felt like some person's mother cooked at home for the two dishes. Mrupupup preferred the chin chow drink ($1.80) over the more expensive lychee lemon tea ($2.80) for it was a bit too sweet (think OKG used canned lyc

National Day Parade - NDP 2013 Singapore

Image
With much pride, Mrupupup attended the National Day Parade 2013 (NDP). Thanks to Today Newspaper managed to get tickets to the actual parade on 9 August 2013.  In Singapore, one needs to be very lucky to attend the actual birthday celebration of Singapore's birthday on 9 August every year. Mrupupup had this rare chance to attend the actual parade for NDP 2013. Mrupupup's feedback of the parade: fantastic and superb! Mruupup loved the musical style format created for this year. There were many personalities on stage for NDP 2013- Gurmit Singh, Vernetta Lopez, Sebestian Teo, Vocaluptous singing group, Ah Boys to Men stars, Under One Rood- Moses Lim and Dolly, Shimona Kee (singer). Besides the musical format, there were sports personalities, army & police hardware on display, fighter jets, navy boats, spectacular fireworks, and even the 'immobile' Merlion appeared on stage (really made me laugh!). Overall, it was a great NDP 2013 and Mrupupup would remember this NDP

That Girl in Pinafore : Movie Gala Premiere

Image
That Girl In Pinafore (A Singapore Love Story) - 我的朋友,我的同學,我愛過的一切 is a very nice locally made movie about life in the 1980s and 1990s of Singapore. Mrupupup was invited for the movie gala premiere at GV Vivocity. Mrupupup enjoyed the movie very much. The songs played in the movie were from the Chinese 'Xinyao' music era in Singapore. It was the glorious times in Chinese music in Singapore. The 'Xinyao' songs at that era were all so beautifully crafted. Loved the replaying of all the popular 'Xinyao' songs in this movie.  The movie was about a love story between a poor boy and rich girl. The storyline was nice. At the end of the day, the movie ended tragically for one of the character. Well, a decent movie storyline always would have a tinge of sadness, for life is never perfect. This movie has local stars like Daren Tan 陈世维, Julie Tan 陈欣淇, Jayley Woo Jiaqi & many more. If you are a Singaporean, go watch the movie which was released on 1 August 2013. If

Four Fingers Crispy Chicken at Ion Orchard

Image
Wooo Hoooo. Mrupupup ate Four Fingers Crispy Chicken. It was very nice. Mrupupup ordered the Chicken Sandwich Bun and Chicken Burger combo set meal which came with a drink and french fries. The Four Fingers Chicken Burger came with seaweed flavoured French Fries, lettuce and crispy chicken meat with soft tender buns. It was served in a mess tin! So army style! The crispy chicken mixed very well with all the flavours in the mess tin! The Chicken Sandwich bun came with an interesting fried up bun like those type of bun used with eating Singapore chilli crab. I think Four Fingers pretty great in mix the flavours. The Chicken Sandwich combo set came with fried up bun, cripsy chicken meat and KIMCHI!!!! Amazing first time eating western burger stuffed with Korean kimchi. Well, the founders of Four Fingers just took this Korean style fried chicken from New York streets and brought it to sunny Singapore. Mrupupup ate the Four Fingers in Ion Orchard food court at Basement 4 and each set me
