The Intan- Peranakan House Museum
Went to visit the Intan - a Peranakan House Museum which holds many personal collections of the Peranakan culture. Peranakan culture is created due to the inter-marriages of Chinese immigrants with Malay or Indian races. Peranakan culture can be found in parts of Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The visit to the Intan was complementary for me due to the good folks in History Asia. The Intan is a special museum as it serves as a residence for the owner and private useum to hold all the Peranakan artefacts which are of a high value.
The Intan contains many Perankan artefacts on display - beaded shoes, special furniture, exquisite bowls, antiques of high craftmanship and special historical artefacts that are not commonly found in the Perankan culture. The Intan Peranakan Museum is located at 69 Joo Chiat Terrace, Singapore, and needs special permission from the owner to visit the place. Its ok, I took some photographs of the Intan for your viewing pleasure.
