Singapore Coffee Festival 2017 Marina Cruise Centre

A stimulating spread of brewing workshops, home roasting demos, flavour profile discovery classes, café talks and coffee degustation sessions await java junkies at Singapore Coffee Festival (SCF) 2017. Singapore’s only coffee-centric festival will also play host this year to the electrifying Singapore Aeropress Championships 2017, organised by Common Man Coffee Roasters, as well as the largest-ever Barter Market, a unique cashless bazaar featuring more than 20 local makers and artists and presented by urban artist Sam Lo’s Indigoism outfit.

The four-day festival, which debuted as a sell-out event last year, returns on Thursday, 3 August to Sunday, 6 August 2017. at spacious seaside venue Marina Bay Cruise Centre. Organised by The Straits Times (ST) and presented by DBS, the festival is also supported by several sponsors including Family & Tech Partner Singtel, Premium Coffee Sponsor Nespresso, Official Cruise Partner Princess Cruises, Wildlife-friendly Coffee Partner Mandai Park Holdings, Sustainable Power Partner Sembcorp and Reading Partner National Library Board.

Festival-goers this year can look forward to two new perks: the SCF Coffee Card, which entitles the holder to exclusive discounts at more than 30 cafes and F&B establishments throughout the month of August; and the festival sampling experience, where each ticket-buyer can redeem two sample drinks from participating exhibitors at the festival.

Other highlights this year will include workshops on leather-crafting, candy-making and #nofilter photography, as well as morning yoga and other family-friendly activities including storytelling sessions. Arts will also play a big role in this year’s festival, which has the theme “espresso’self”. Singapore Writers Festival (SWF) will conduct SWF POP @ Coffee Festival, where two teams of writers and artists compete to produce poetry/prose and illustrations based off coffee-related prompts from the audience. Visitors can also join ST artists in live graffiti performances along the wall panels of the venue, or get coffee doodles and coffee poems on takeaway cups in an Artistic Recycling Programme supported by Noise Singapore, Sing Lit Station and Sembcorp.

ST journalists will host chats with café owners, entrepreneurs and corporate leaders, while ST Life editor and veteran food critic Tan Hsueh Yun will present Posh Nosh by Hsueh – an exclusive dining experience featuring the most delectable picks from the festival. The full list of programmes at SCF 2017 is available at http://sgcoffeefestival.com.sg/programmes/.
