Wedding Banquet at TungLok Signatures located at Orchard Parade Hotel

Image
Mrupupup attended a wedding banquet at TungLok Signatures located at Orchard Parade Hotel. The wedding banquet venue at TungLok was the smaller venue with about 20 tables. Some tables were located in rooms which blocked the view of the bride and groom giving their thank you speech. The dishes served for the wedding banquet were pretty traditional fare: - Cold dish with about five items like jellyfish, duck meat, spring rolls, roast meat, prawns with melon - Shark's fin soup which came with lots of shark's fin (oh no! better don't tell those animal environmental nature protectors! - Scallops with broccoli (loved the big chunks of scallops) - Roasted chicken: seems like not roasted enough - Mushrooms with vegetables and sea cucumber which was good and yummy - Steamed fish which maybe a bit over cooked but nice - Yam rice which Mrupupup thought was not nice and not warm. Can skip this dish. - Dessert with Chinese red date, bird's nest and Aloe Vera which was the

Spuds And Aprons at Mount Faber

Image
Spuds and Aprons at the top of Mount Faber Singapore is a western restaurant opened at the cable car station - Mount Faber. Mrupupup loved to go to Spuds and Aprons just to have a meal with a good view overlooking the Keppel Bay area. Mrupupup tried out the pan fried salmon which came with lots of vegetables and special tangy sauce to make the salmon taste much better. The other dish Mrupupup was the linguine pasta with cream sauce and came with lots of mushrooms. Mrupupup preferred this mushroom creamy pasta over the salmon (which was a bit dry) and had a nice smooth taste to it. The cream sauce was the difference to the pasta. Spuds and Apron's best point would be the awesome view. Well, with the nice view meant the food would be a bit pricey (but it is manageable). The pasta and salmon dishes were within $15 - $25. Enjoy the meal and see the cable car coming up to its station at Mount Faber.

SET at POMO Comtemporary Value Set Meals

Image
Mrupupup went for a nice food session at SET located in POMO Mall at 1 Selegie Road #02-01 (next to TCC outlet). SET recently opened in August 2014 and the owners were formerly from TAO's eating place formerly located at POMO also. SET restaurant offers contemporary cuisine, and comes in set lunch and set dinner menu. Prices range from around $28.80++ for 5 course and $38.80++ for 6 course meal. Pretty good value for the 6 course set meal which came with chef starter dish, side dish, soup, cold dish, one main course and dessert. You have a choice of 3 to 5 items for main course, soup and dessert sections. Mrupupup had Chef Starter (which change regularly) of foie gras with red wine (pretty good!), cold dish of smoked duck, tomato caprese, Huai San Carpaccio (a kind of Chinese Yam), Salmon Gravlax. SET created fusion of Chinese and Western style to come up with the interesting cold dishes. Mrupupup liked the all the cold dishes. For the side dish, Mrupupup had the King Oyster

Canton Paradise Chinese Food Yummy

Image
Mrupupup went to the Canton Paradise for a late Chinese food dinner. Well, since it was a late dinner (around 8.30pm) at Canton Paradise located at Basement 1 of Star Vista Mall (1 Vista Exchange Green #B1-45), Mrupupup ordered a few yummy dishes. Mrupupup had the awesome goodness of the egg yolk 'liu sa' bun with its famously ooosshing yellow filling coming out of the bun. The yummy egg yolk taste with the hot bun was a perfect match. Mrupupup also ordered the prawn fritters in a basket which was yummy fried food. When one visits the Canton Paradise, you need to order their nice noodles. Mrupupup had the yummy thin noodles in a soup and came with juicy pork slices (roasted pork!). The combination of roasted pork and the noodles was delicious! Mrupupup was totally satisfied with the meal. The meals at Canton Paradise were yummy and costs were reasonable (range from $4 for small dishes and about $8 for the noodles). The place also sells porridge and various types of dim sum

Mcdonald's Grilled Chicken McWrap Food Event Singapore - August 2014

Image
Mcdonald's Grilled Chicken McWrap food Eent event was held at Bishan Park branch, Mrupupup loved this branch because of its tranquil location in Bishan Park. The event started with an explanation of the new "500 Calorie" menu that the McWrap will be on.  Mrupupup felt very slim after the speech.  After the introduction, we had a demonstration of how the Mcwraps were made by Mcdonald's staff. After the demonstration, we were served a cup of corn keeping in line with the low calorie menu theme. However, they also served Mrupupup a Coke drink, which was great since a cup of corn eaten alone would be quite boring food. After our appetizers, the wraps arrived.  We were only offered the Grilled Chicken version and not the Spicy (Fried) Chicken variant. The vegetables consisted of whole leaf lettuce, tomato, cabbage & carrot but surprisingly onion was left out. Mrupupup felt that the Mcwrap was good because it was much healthier than a Big Mac. The taste of Mcwrap wi

Monster Curry at Nex Huge Monster Japanese Curry

Image
Mrupupup went to the newly opened Monster Curry (Japanese) store at Nex #B1-08. Mrupupup ordered the huge (very, very big plate) of Sea Monster curry. Why Sea Monster? Because the huge plate came with rice, lots of hot Japanese curry sauce with 4 prawns tempura style, two scallops and one large fried fish fillet. The signature, dark curry was delicious and spicy. The Monster Curry dish was so big that two persons actually struggled to finish up the curry dish. Well, with big plate means big price of $25 (without GST hor!) - actual was $28.25. Ok, Mrupupup's advice try to get three persons or more if you want to order the HUGE plate curry sauce dish. Monster Curry outlet was popular during meals times. Be prepared to wait for huge groups of people. Besides Sea Monster, there are other types of curry dishes with pork, chicken or seafood. One could choose the cheaper versions around $12 if only one person dines at Monster Curry. Burp! Think too much curry sauce!

Paik's Bibimbap at Vivocity Very Yummy Korean Bistro Food

Image
Paik's Bibimbap is a fast food type of Korean Bistro that serves up Korea's famous Bibimbap and warm noodles "Korean style". Mrupupup went to the Paik's Bibimbap store located on the second floor of Vivocity #02-125. Bibimbap is a traditional rice dish which one would mix it up with beef or chicken slices (you can choose), lots of vegetables and egg in a very large bowl. Pretty nice Paik's Bibimbap (about $8.50), do try with their spicy Korean sauce. Mrupupup felt like eating their Korean warm noodles ($7.90) which was very nice. The noodles was soft, came with vegetables, nuts, seaweed and minced meat. Mrupupup noticed a lot of ladies in the store eating the warm noodles dish. Mrupupup enjoyed the unique Korean taste in the warm noodles. Stay healthy, don't eat so much Western fast food, try some simple Asian fast food. Warm Noodles     Bibimbap Rice Dish
