Image
Mrupupup attended Singapore’s Orchestra of the Music Makers (OMM) concert, performing one of the most ambitious pieces of classical music, Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony or “Symphony of a Thousand”, live in Singapore as a tribute to SG50. Great performance and even got "Majullah Singapore" (National Anthem of Singapore) as a final encore. Thanks to organisers for sponsored tickets - 11 July 15 concert.   Featuring no less than eight local and international vocal soloists, four large choirs (including three from Australia), a children’s choir, large symphony orchestra, separate brass ensemble and an organ, this is only the second time the symphony performed in Singapore’s history.     The monumental piece started with a medieval Pentecost hymn and culminated in the closing scene of Goethe’s Faust, drawing together fundamental philosophical ideas of Western history. Mahler wrote this immensely moving and spectacular symphony as a “gift to the entire nation” for his bel

Alive Museum in Singapore

Image
Alive Museum is Singapore’s latest fun destination. Alive Museum is for all ages, especially fun for kids. Mrupupup recently visited the Alive Museum which help to present the concept of art into entertainment. The Alive Museum covers over 10,000 square feet with more than 80 artworks brought vibrantly alive with 3D painting, shading and drawing techniques that create visual illusions. Visitors will not only be able to experience magical ideas in reality by touching and watching objects, they will be part of the masterpiece, especially the Marilyn Monroe piece. So no need to go Jeju Island (in South Korea) to experience the Alive Museum. Mrupupup had been to the Jeju's outlet of Alive Museum before felt it was similar to the Alive Museum in Suntec City Mall. Mrupupup's experience of Alive Museum was fun and interesting. Mrupupup loved the ET movie art piece, Marilyn Monroe interactive art piece, Nelson Mendela 'jumping' art and many more. Approximate Duration of

Bukit Brown Cemetery: Documented Past of Singapore

Image
Bukit Brown Cemetery is well documented in Singapore. The fight by civic societies to preserve this Bukit Brown Cemetery raised much interest in this place. Bukit Brown Cemetery holds up to 100,000 burial plots for the Chinese. The famous personalities buried there included Mr Ong Sam Leong (very rich man), Chew Joo Chiat, Gan Eng Seng and many more. Take note that Mr Ong Sam Leong's burial place is the largest and most elaborate in the Bukit Brown area. Bukit Brown Cemetery is located off the Sime Road and near to Singapore Island Country Club. As this cemetery is facing some changes to the site due the construction of a road through this place, Mrupupup went to see this Bukit Brown place. Well, Mrupupup thinks it is quite a big place and quiet with many interesting birds chirping. The most impressive thing of Bukit Brown were the tombs. Just to let Mrupupup's readers know that some tombs had Sikh Guards placed next to the tombs. One tomb even had two colourful Sikh Guards w
