G.O.D- 'Goods of Desire' is a lifestyle store based in Hong Kong thats sells interesting designer ojects, home furnishings, tableware and furniture. G.O.D. in Cantonese "to live better" (住好o的). Well, the G.O.D store would be setting up a branch in Central Mall, Singapore, likely end of June 2012. Take a look at the interesting Red Lamp Shade that became a sitting place for people in Central Mall. Mrupupup checked out the Pho House at Suntec City (next to Toys R Us outlet). Pho House serves Vietnamese food. The food was good. We had pork chop rice and beef pho soup with noodles. The Vietnamese food was light and taste different. We also had fried and rice paper spring ro lls i n the meal set which costs about $14-16 with iced coffee. The best thing about the meal set was the iced Vietnamese coffee which was thick and nice. Check out the photos below. Lai Wah Restaurant is a food institution in Singapore. Located at Block 44 Bendemeer Road, this Chinese restaurant is an all time favourite with the elderly. The place serves wonderful Chinese cuisine - Cantonese style. Lai Wah restaurant was where famous dishes like 'Yu Sheng' (raw fish dish) and yam ring (yam stir fried with nuts and prawns) were created. The food is great and the staff are friendly. Lai Wah has a certain 'old world' charm which one cannot find easily in Singapore. Really enjoyed the food! Let me introduce to you the dishes Mrupupup had - via the photos below. Chinta Manis is a peranakan cake shop which specialises in handmade nyonya cakes. They serve a range of cakes, pastries and local savoury delights. Mrupupup went to their outlet in Greenwich V and bought their modern variations to traditional perankan cakes. These cakes are made in Singapore and are 100% handmade and serve fresh daily. Cinta Manis uses only the finest ingredients and does not have preservatives, so you need to eat the traditional cakes within a day. Sakon Thai food is very nice and spicy. Sakon Thai outlet we went was at Jalan Wangi (in MacPherson estate). The outlet was quite quiet. The evening crowd only started coming to the Thai restaurant after 8.30pm. If you like hot and spicy food, Sakon Thai is the place to go. Mrupupup had Tom Yam seafood soup (clear and spicy version), basil chicken stir fried with chilli padi (those small chillis that's really spicy), pineapple rice, mango with sweet glutinous rice and avacodo & mango shakes. We ate the Thai food, at the same time we were also tearing because the Thai food was very spicy. Really enjoyed the spicy experience and would like to go again. The Thai food we ordered was nice, especially the pineapple rice! Enjoyed the photos! It was really hot, hot, hot! One more thing, the restaurant got nice decorations. Dignity Kitchen is a food court with a purpose and it is different. The purpose of Dignity Kitchen is to train the disabled persons, disadvantaged and elderly so that they can get a job and be independent. Dignity Kitchen is a social entreprise food court located at Techview, 1 Kaki Bukit View, next to Bedok North Secondary School and was set up in 2010. The food court serves all sorts of food: Indian, Western, Malay, Chinese and various snacks stores. Mrupupup was very impressed by Mr Koh Seng Choon, the person behind Dignity Kitchen. He personally set up this food court cum hawker training school without any sponsorship grants, to help the disadvantaged persons in Singapore's society to receive training and get a job. He really got guts and determination to succeed and overcame all the odds, as there is no where else in the world that has this type of facility to help the disadvantaged.
