Teadot Cafe

Image
Teadot is a specialty tea cafe located at Nex Mall Level 2 (next to Starbucks) which serves a wide variety of cakes, coffee and tea concoction with exotic names. Mrupupup ordered  their matcha latte with creative coffee tea art on top. The Teadot Cafe is an open concept place and Mrupupup just shared one green tea matcha latte which costs $6.30 (a bit overpriced). The place was relaxing place for a cuppa and sharing interesting conversation. Mrupupup felt that the matcha latte was pretty but the taste lacked a bit of green tea. Anyway, Mrupupup slowly enjoyed the green tea matcha latte with Famous Amos biscuits (Yummss!).

Lobster Eating at the Little Fish Shop @ Nex

Image
On the fourth level of  NEX  mall (at Serangoon MRT Station), the  Little Fish Shop  is a seafood eating place. Mrupupup ate lobster and the lobster was on promotion at $30 per piece valid only on Mondays and Sundays. This $30 lobster was grilled and tasted very delicious. Mrupupup was lucky on that day because it was the very last lobster for the day. Overheard from the next table, the lady client said, ' Oh no, I come all the way from Jurong just to eat your lobster and it is all sold out by 8pm.' Lucky Mrupupup! Ok, this Little Fish Shop served excellent lobster and we also tried their fried calamari squid ($9.80) which was very nice. Mrupupup enjoyed the grilled lobster which could be shared by two people.  The  Little Fish Shop  is a casual restaurant run by the same people behind Greenwood Fish Market. The place is  cosy & trendy abode and the service staff were friendly. Do check out the Little Fish Shop for they have promotional offers on weekdays for their other se

Saizeriya at City Square Singapore

Image
Mrupupup went to eat Saizeriya Japanese Food Place at City Square Mall, Singapore (nearest MRT Farrer Park station). Saizeriya served very good and value for money food items. Mrupupup had escargots ($6), Foccacia bread - very good with the snails/ escargots ($1.90), spaghetti ($5-6) and paella rice ($6). Sometimes, Mrupupup wondered how Saizeriya makes money because their prices are so reasonable and food tasted great especially the snails (escargots)! Foccacia Bread- great with snails! Spaghetti Snails Paella Rice - Seafood

Twilight Breaking Dawn Saga Part 2 Movie at GV City Square Cinema

Image
Mrupupup attended the new Movie Twilight Breaking Dawn Saga Part 2 Movie at the Golden Village Cinema at City Square (@Level 5 & nearest MRT Farrer Park Station). This new GV Cinema recently opened just last week and everything like seats and carpet were new. The GV cinema had a neat ticketing counter and nice movie screen. The Twilight Movie had great shots of amazing 'winter season' mountain scenery and the GV Multiplex Cinema at City Square delivered with clear pictures. The new cinema also had a good sound system which allowed Mrupupup to enjoyed the show much more. Twilight Breaking Dawn Saga was a great movie with very nice scenery, great ending to a long love story between a vampire & human and very nice music! Totally enjoyed the movie, thanks OMY and GV City Square for the tickets!

Conversation over White Chocolate Ice Cream with Waffle

Last night, Mrupupup was in a cafe. Mrupupup ordered waffles with white chocolate ice cream which came a with tinge of Bailey's cream. On Mrupupup's left and right, conversation was happening about everybody's daily lives.           On Mrupupup's right, the table sat a couple. The couple consisted of a pudgy looking girl and a slim, handsome looking young man. Mrupupup guessed they must be dating. Mrupupup always wondered why a couple would come together because of common experiences or a chance moment. Anyway, the couple's conversation was held over a white chocolate ice cream waffle with additional cups of green tea mocha cafe.         The girl was happy with the guy. As their conversation continued, the girl gave the the boy a 'sniggle' present  wrapped in a white plastic bag which Mrupupup's think was a pencil case. The girl gingerly said, "Happy Birthday! An early present for you". The boy smiled and never said a word. Mrupupup sensed

Swatow Restaurant hairy crab & dim sum

Image
On a Sunday, Mrupupup went to eat hairy crab and dim sum from China at Swatow Chinese restaurant at Blk 181 Toa Payoh Lorong 4. These small size crabs from China with lots of hair on their legs are in season right now. Mrupupup went to the Swatow restaurant which was super busy! Mrupupup never tried hairy crab and was the first time eating this creature. The staff from Swatow had to specially dissect the Hairy crab in front of Mrupupup. Mrupupup slowly enjoyed the crab which was sweet, nice and kind of juicy but the meat was not much. Well, it was fun trying the hairy crab which costs $19.90 per piece but Mrupupup preferred chilli or steam crabs. Take note Swatow restaurnt can be super crowded during holidays and sundays. Mrupupup went on a sunday and it was took 45minutes to enter the restaurant. Singaporeans just loved to eat dim sum and there were many birthday celebrations held in the restaurant with 'Happy Birthday' song played many times. Check out the photos - and one

Frankenweenie Cartoon Movie Preview

Image
Mrupupup totally enjoyed the latest Frankenweenie Cartoon Movie Cathay Orchard cinemas. This Disney film is a remake of Tim Burton's short film of the same name. Tim Burton is a creative genius and directed  Alice in Wonderland & The Nightmare Before Christmas  The movie is a heart warming story of how a young boy named Victor tried to revive his pet dog. Very nice story line and the cartoon is in 'black & white'. Well, Tim Burton's movies are 'dark' with creepy looking characters and scary monsters coming alive. Totally like Frankenweenie! Loved the dog too!  Spoiler alert: the beloved dog died once and subsequently would never die due to mother nature's powerful electrical spells.   Nice breath of fresh air that Tim Burton directed  Frankenweenie -  an ingenious claymation movie about little monsters .  The movie will be on from 15 November 2012 in Singapore, do catch the movie. Thanks for the preview tickets nuffnang!

Ah Tai Hainanese Chicken Rice

Image
Something is wrong with Mrupupup. Mrupupup just want to write about food in Maxwell Road Food Centre. Mrupupup missed the chicken rice store in this food centre. Take note the Maxwell Road Food Centre is under renovations till end of 2012. Now, Mrupupup dreams of eating chicken rice. Mrupupup tried the Ah Tai Hainanese Chicken Rice (Stall 7) and found it to be very nice. The chunky meat and fragrant rice made eating chicken rice a pleasant experience. Mrupupup queued for some time to get the chicken rice. Yummys. Guessed the Ah Tai store, with the chef who formerly was from a rival chicken rice stall in the same food centre named 'Tian Tian' would be doing well for a long time.

Fried Sweet Potato Balls

Image
Mrupupup missed the fried sweet potato balls at Maxwell Road Food Centre. Maxwell Road Food Centre is closed for renovation till the end of 2012. Sighz .... Cannot eat the nice fried sweet potato balls at Stall 76. This stalll just sells fried sweet potato balls and comes with different types of fillings - peanut, bean paste, coconut, pandan coconut and many more. These type of fried snacks are hard to come by because all Singaporeans nowadays want to eat healthy "GRASS" - I mean garden salads - pretty boring. Nevermind, Mrupupup would be waiting patiently for the stall (hopefully it will open when renovations are over) and get those fried balls to eat (eat it while it is hot - very nice!).

Barclays Golf Singapore Open 2012

Image
Mrupupup got a chance to attend this weekend's $6 million Barclays Singapore Open Golf Championship at Sentosa Golf Club's Serapong Golf Course. For Mrupupup, it was the first time attending such a prestigious golf championship.  Big names like Adam Scott, Rory Mcllory (current World no.1 golf player) and Phil Mickelson were playing in the game. Mrupupup really was excited to see such a crowd following these great golf players. Mrupupup had a good time following the golf players in the expansive and beautiful Serapong Golf Course. Checked out the photos below and enjoy the atmosphere of world class golf action in Singapore! \ Video

Taste Paradise at Ion Orchard Singapore

Image
Taste Paradise is one traditional Chinese restaurant that serves very nice 'xiao long bao'. Mrupupup enjoyed Chinese dishes and loved to come to Taste Paradise at Level 4 Ion Orchard Singapore. Mrupupup ordered the signature pork noodles in soup, Zha Jiang mee (spicy noodles) and of course their 'xiao long bao'. The xiao long bao is a small dumpling 'handmade' and with pork & soup in the dumpling. The xiao long bao is one delicate food item and do handle with care so as not to break the skin of the dumpling too early. The pork noodles with pork slices and an egg was very nice and Mrupupup finished the whole bowl! The pork soup was nicely done and loved the handmade noodles. The zha jiang mee was a bit spicy for Mrupupup. Mrupupup finished the meal with a traditional dessert with jelly bits in it which was a nice way to round off a meal. Xiao Long Bao (about $7 for 6), Pork Noodles ($10.80) and Zha Jiang Mee ($9.80) plus Jelly dessert ($3.80). Do take note th

Company the Musical

Image
Mrupupup attended the musical COMPANY at the Singapore Drama Centre. This 'Tony Award' winning musical explores the joys and sadness of being single. COMPANY was really fun as the cast try to persuade their friend (main actor), Robert, to get married. Mrupupup loved the physical set, lots of great laughs and wonderful songs with a backup mini-orchestra behind the set. It's interesting how the play about
in marriage or out of marriage could make Mrupupup laugh so much. The COMPANY will be on till 17 Nov 2012. Really loved the songs and the 'high level' of singing and acting! Enjoyed the Musical! Key Take Away: Wish for someone to share your life with, someone to help and hurt and hinder and love, someone to face the challenge of "Being Alive" on our planet.

Croquette and Japanese Doctor

Mrupupup took along a Japanese croquette, an umbrella and a hot flask of green tea to visit a famous Shinto temple in Sendai, Japan. Japanese croquette was delicately placed in orange container. You know how Japanese croquette are like, they are just so nice to eat with their bread crumbed and soft potato taste. Well, this Japanes croquette had a salmon filling in it too.      Mrupupup took the train line from his hotel in Sendai. Mrupupup looked in amazement the multi coloured lines of the trains on the board. Luckily, Mrupupup's mate got a way to 'decipher' the correct train line to take to this Shinto temple.      Mrupupup took the efficient red train line to the correct stop and alighted. As the train came to a stop, the ever lovely pre-recorded music played and train captain made announcements and wished every passenger a good day. How Mrupupup wished Singapore's trains could be so pleasant? The music la-di-da-li-da-di played was beautiful and often rang in Mru

Over a pot of mussels in a French cafe

On a rainy day, Mrupupup was in a French Cafe having a pot of mussels. The French cafe was small and homely. The shop owners chatted freely with the customers and engaged in polite converations. When the lady shop owner came to Mrupupup, she said 'Bon nuit', how is the food?' Mrupupup replied, 'Tres Bien!'. Mrupupup was a rare overseas asian faced visitor to the lady owner's cafe.           This French cafe was located in the walled city of Saint Malo, at the Britanny region of France. Saint Malo could be described as a beautiful place in France. The walled city of Saint Malo gave it a 'old style' medieval feel of Europe along with the contrasting modern shops and supermarket Carrefour. The people here in Saint Malo were more friendly as compared to the hurried city folks in Paris. As Mrupupup walked on the cobbled streets, the sights and senses made one wonder. Memories returned to Mrupupup of the strong winds from the ocean, the tree stumps along Sai

Bidadari Cemetery - Place for photography & peace

Image
Bidadari Cemetery has been cleared of the cemetery plots and now is a nice park along Upper Serangoon Road, Singapore (nearest MRT station Circle Line- Woodleigh). Mrupupup went to Bidadari Cemetery just to take photographs of the place. The place is good for photography and bird watching. The whole landscape evoked a sense of calm and peace. Mrupupup walked along and encountered cute dogs, squirrels, birds, men on their daily jogs, interesting tree shapes and people enjoying the peace. Checked out Mrupupup's photos of Bidadari Cemetery. The whole place would be cleared for public housing in the future and do enjoy the mini park while the place still remains.
