Bidadari Cemetery - Place for photography & peace

Image
Bidadari Cemetery has been cleared of the cemetery plots and now is a nice park along Upper Serangoon Road, Singapore (nearest MRT station Circle Line- Woodleigh). Mrupupup went to Bidadari Cemetery just to take photographs of the place. The place is good for photography and bird watching. The whole landscape evoked a sense of calm and peace. Mrupupup walked along and encountered cute dogs, squirrels, birds, men on their daily jogs, interesting tree shapes and people enjoying the peace. Checked out Mrupupup's photos of Bidadari Cemetery. The whole place would be cleared for public housing in the future and do enjoy the mini park while the place still remains.

Rocket at Upper Seletar Reservoir

Image
Mrupupup saw a Rocket in Singapore! The Rocket is at Upper Seletar Reservoir! Actually, this Rocket structure oversees the whole of Upper Seletar Reservoir catchment area and you can also see glimpses of the Singapore Zoo nearby. Mrupupup managed to climb to the top of the rocket and capture a 360 view & video of the Upper Seletar Reservoir. This reservoir was built in the 1940. The Japanese War in 1941 destroyed the reservoir but was subsequently repaired. The originally named Seletar Reservoir was rebuilt in the 1960s and enlarged by 35 times. It was opened officially in 1969 by Princess Alexandra who represented the Queen of England for the 150th anniversary to celebrate Singapore as England's trading post. This Rocket was like a fantasy and climbing up the spiral gives Mrupupup a feeling of getting ready to blast off into space. Indeed, the Rocket tower served as heritage site for Singapore and bears memories of the good times people had when they were in the Seletar Reserv

Botanic Gardens Singapore

Image
Botanic Gardens Singapore established in 1859 is one place that is full of activity on a weekend morning. There were many people in the Botanic Gardens! The garden was full of energy with people having picnic, walking their dogs, viewing the plants & flowers, taking a jog and enjoying nature at its best. Mrupupup was just taking a stroll cum jog through the gardens and taking lots of photos in the Botanic Gardens on a weekend morning (even got a beautiful caterpillar shot!). Do visit the Botanic Gardens located at 1 Cluny Road (Tanglin area). Enjoy!

Bukit Batok Nature Park

Image
Mrupupup visited the Bukit Batok Nature Park. The park is a nice place with many joggers, families having picnics and many people enjoying the beauty of nature. Bukit Batok Nature Park is unique because of the granite formation at the corner of the park, a nice pond and a link to the World War II Past with a plaque showing the existence of Japanese occupation in the Bukit Timah/ Bukit Batok area (near to the high telecommunication tower). Very nice place and you might see a monkey in the forested area. Do enjoy the photos and visit the park if you are in the Bukit Batok area.

Canoes and Macritchie Reservoir

Image
Mrupupup went to the Macritchie Reservoir Singapore. Mrupupup saw many canoeists in training. The place is very popular on a sunday morning. Mrupupup thinks having too many people disturb the tranquil nature of the reservoir. Mrupupup took some photographs and had a nice run around the Macritchie Reservoir boardwalk trail. The place has beautiful clear reservoir waters and tall trees. Overall, it's a good place to chill out and be close to nature.

Katong Park Singapore

Image
Mrupupup did two videos on Katong Park in Singapore. Katong Park used to be a small fort to defend against the enemies of Singapore. Katong Park also used to be a popular playground for the people living in the east. Now, Katong Park is a small park and very peaceful place amidst the hustle of urban Singapore. In Katong Park, there stands a Rainbow Gum Tree from Papua New Guinea. This Rainbow Gum Tree gets its name because of the colourful bark of the tree and is a Heritage Tree in Singapore. Katong Park is a tranquil park and very nice for people to take a stroll. Enjoy the two videos made by Mrupupup.

Supertrees in Gardens by the Bay Video by Mrupupup

Image
Mrupupup went to check out the Supertrees in Gardens by the Bay. It was like being on the movie set of Avatar and the artificial Supertrees were so tall and during intervals music was played to give the place a special feeling like you are in a different world. Think the people who came up with the Supertrees saw the movie Avatar and visioned the place as some unique place out of this world. Checked out the two videos created by Mrupupup.

Gardens by the Bay and Supertrees in Singapore

Image
The latest attraction in Singapore just opened and Mrupupup went to check out the 'Gardens by the Bay' and the Supertrees located inside the gardens. Gardens by the Bay is a new park and costs close to one billion dollars to build on reclaimed land. Gardens by the Bay is located in the Marina Bay area and next to Marina Bay Sands. The gardens is huge and comes with Supertrees, artificially created trees based on the concept of huge trees found in Australia & United States. Gardens by the Bay was really packed with many people and they just want to check out the plants, trees, and the air-conditioned conservatories which housed the plants found in cooler climates and artificial waterfall. Very nice place and took a few hours just to roam about in the gardens. Mrupupup went in the evening and saw the beautiful lights installations and the Supertrees which tower 5-7 stories high (like being in the movie Avatar). Do check out the photos below.
