Sembawang Park

Image
Sembawang Park is in the north of Singapore. Mrupupup visited the park and found it very peaceful. Sembawang Park is now undergoing some renovations. Mrupupup found the park very nice because of the Beaulieu House (old style colonial house) located at the park, the jetty and very clean place to hang out or go for a nice walk. The Beaulieu House now serves as a restaurant and is located right in front of the beach. While Mrupupup was at Sembawang Park, people were just relaxing at the beach and breathing the fresh air. You can take bus service 882 from Sembawang MRT station/ bus interchange to go to the park.   Stone Chairs   Future playground under construction      Pine trees     Checking out the Sembawang Shipyard   Sembawang Jetty       Map of the Park   Beaulieu House

The Lone Ranger - Movie

Image
Mrupupup is excited to see Johnny Depp in his new movie - The Lone Ranger. As usual, with Johnny Depp in the movie 'The Lone Ranger", there would be lots of twists and turns, and hopefully would have some 'dark' comedy & great adventures. Johnny Depp, not a “savvy-ing” pirate this time but a Native American spiritual warrior, TONTO, who recounts the untold tales that transformed a man of the law into a legend of justice, JOHN REID aka LONE RANGER, enacted by Armie Hammer. Hold tight to your seats for a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes.  The action-packed film takes the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption. Catch Disney’s “The Lone Ranger” in Singapore cinemas this 4 July 2013 ! For more updates, like the Official Walt Disney Studios Singapore Faceb...

MegaBugs Returns! Exhibition at Singapore Science Centre

Image
Mrupupup was fortunate to attend the Megabugs Returns! Exhibtion - all thanks to the Singapore Science Centre. Megabugs Returns! exhibition would bring one into the imaginary world of insects. Mrupupup realised the insects were all larger in size. Mrupupup loved bugs and found the exhibition at the Singapore Science Centre very fascinating. The 'larger than life' insect exhibits were made to be lively with real sounds and movements. Hurry, go to the Singapore Science Centre in Jurong for the Megabugs exhibition, which will end by 12 August 2013. Each entry ticket will allow one to tour the rest of the Singapore Science Centre (got very interesting science exhibits), visit the bugs exhibition, watched a 3D movie on bugs and attend an interesting talk which includes a 'live' hissing bug from Africa & stick insects. Adult ticket costs $20 and for child $15. Mrupupup found the Megabugs Returns! very useful for children and would expose them to the wonders of ins...

Keisuke Tonkotsu King Ramen at Tanjong Pagar

Image
The little Japanese Ramen eatery, Keisuke Tonkotsu King Ramen, satisfied a huge craving of Mrupupup for Ramen (Japanese noodles). The little squeezy 18 seater ramen shop is located at Orchid Hotel Singapore, 1 Tras Street, along Tanjong Pagar area. Daily queues of at least 30mins are common for the evening meal at Keisuke Tonkotsu King Ramen. Mrupupup ordered the ramen (about $14) per bowl and slurped it all up. The unique thing about this shop was that it serve boiled eggs and customer could have as many eggs one could eat. The ramen was very good with a delicious soup base, golden egg yolk and nice piece of pork char siew. Non- spicy version   Spicy version of ramen     Unlimited servings of eggs and bean sprouts   Quite a squeeze in the ramen shop   Nice Golden egg yolk   Old pictures deco   King of Japanese Ramen

Haze in Singapore June 2013

Image
The month of June & July 2013 was the dry season in Southeast Asia region. With the burning of farmland in Indonesia (Sumatra), Singapore faced a haze that was very high in the PSI Index of between 100-380. The PSI index was recorded at the highest of 371 in June 2013. The air was choking and the smell was bad. Mrupupup faced uncomfortable days out in the open. One could walk a few steps and would be hit by the bad air which caused eyes to tear and choking cough to occur occasionally. Hope the rains come to Singapore to cool the air and bring relief. Durian Puff from Goodwood Park Hotel

Image
Mrupupup purchased two durian puffs from Goodwood Park Hotel, Singapore. Two small durian puffs costs $7. So expensive! Like eating two plates of chicken rice but very much smaller in size, haha! Ok, the durian puff was delicious and very filling. The durian puff had a generous amount of durian mousse! Very yummy! If one needs to satisfy a craving for durian, just go buy the durian puff and one piece would be enough because there was so much durian filling! Goodwood Park Hotel also has the durian fiesta till July 2013 - got all things filled with durian like cakes, pastries and of course the durian puffs!   Durian puffs in a box waiting to be eaten     Goodwood Park Hotel     Side view of durian puffs     Thick amount of durian filling     Durian puff came in a nice bag     Durian cakes and other pastries price list
